Team v Gold Coast

Wonder if it might actually be a sneaky advantage playing one of our short breaks right at the start of the season. Players are fresh and eager plus they've been doing all their pre season training loads in summer heat and the players should be going in at premium condition to start the season.
Once there's been a half dozen or so rounds played, plenty of players will be nursing minor bruises, aches n creaks right through the rest of the year. Might just be that bit harder to step up for the short break games a little further down the track.

I think its a distinct advantage playing an overhyped rabble with a reforming coach with external delusions of grandeur, in a stadium sold out to the away team

early

orders of magnitude better than opening with Collingwood away on The G (they must have been soooooo tempted to make 10,000 of us watch 90,000 singing America the Brave while they unfurl a flag?)

Feels anticlimactic having our opening game in Queensland.
The GC is “ heaving “
Many are travelling up due to long weekend down there
Many have arrived in past 24 hours
Richmond allocation is basically exhausted
Big crowd will see Tiges give it to Dimma
Win by 6 goals
GC are no good
Can’t wait

More I think about it the more confident I feel. They have been terrible in the pre season and Dimma's focus will be getting the game plan up and running (we've heard that before) ASAP into the season as opposed to chasing a quick win. The only question is whether we are as far away from Yze's gameplan as the Suns are from their's. I'm thinking not.

On exposed form I would not pick Kosi. I'd play Sampson has the second key forward/backup ruck.

And I would play Cumbo.

Time will tell
Just hoping for a bruise free win and no hammies or other injuries

Sampson has been the most disappointing of the group this preseason.
The most excitement he has shown is in that brawl with captain America

On exposed form Samson hasn't shown much either. That said I'm not against it if they went that direction.
Sampson is more of an aerial threat than Kosi. And can play ruck better than Kosi. And has more upside than Kosi.

When you are choosing between 2 players I would always prefer to pick the most talented. It's why i would pick Cumbo in front of many others.

Both will play (IMO- assuming Nank is an out.)
I cannot see us going in with only 3 KPFs/rucks.

So there’s even more bogans up there than usual?

If it is going to be slippery would prefer to be smaller

Kosi looks like he has less ground game than Ben Miller. And he isn't a strong contested mark so not sure what he offers other than height.

Just had a look on Ticketek. If they've released all sections then there will be a huge crowd. Record is 24,000 and change. If Ticketek aren't lying ( I know) then crowd will currently be about 22,000. Only wheelchair spaces on ground level and only the last few rows available on half of the top tier of the stand.

Is he though? The Kosi matchup vs Moore was interesting. Moore is arguably the best key back in the game & Kosi kept him relatively honest for much of the game despite not having much impact. Was not altogether effective but he was competitive. Ryan is also ineffective when the ball hits the ground. I think Kosi will get picked vs GC for better or worse. Balta & Kosi to share the ruck duties likely.

Weather looking wet so far for Saturday.

View attachment 21983

this seasons subtropical translation of that forecast: perfect conditions for football.

0-5 mm is 5-10 minutes of rain, most likely after the final siren,

lovely 15knot Southeasterly over the sea to make the arvo pleasant.
