Team v Gold Coast

McIntosh and Koschitzke are not the answer.

Its an unusual pairing who wont deliver us from evil Mo.

One a one-club 168 richmond games life member, double premiership legend who runs 16km a game: One a free fringe project from a bottom side yet to play?

Is it the K?

I reckon we will go at 4 talls- rucks and KPFs.
So Balta, Kosi, Naismith and Nank/Ryan for the praccie game that counts for 4 points.

When Lynch is fit it will come down to Kosi/Naismith/Ryan for the last spot.
I hear what you're saying Brodders but I wonder if we will get spooked by it being 80% humidity and slippery like a bloody ice rink up there ? Four big fellas might stretch them in the dry but is it a liability in the wet ? They're a mob of runners. I suppose you could sub one out and have Cumberland come on for speed and impact.

How's the AFL's form scheduling us for this game on Sat twilight in early March then backing up off a five day break for the Thurs against the brown paper bags who get the extra days rest ? I hated it when they did the draw and I hate it even more now. Dumb and dumber and even dumberer. They continue to amaze. Imagine them doing that to Floggingwood. It wouldn't happen. Bunch of AHoles, nothing's changed there then.

My theory is that we will look at a squad of about 25 players to cover both games. The obvious ones being Gibcus, Grimes and Brown sharing the 2nd/3rd tall role between them. Then Campbell, Green and Cumberland doing similar sharing a forward role perhaps with sub duties.

Baker for me isn't a forward. He's either mid or defender plugging gaps and having impact as a utility. I'd also use him to shut down Anderson or Rowell for half a quarter if either of them get off the chain and start causing damage.

Ross comes in for Graham and although I rate Graham's defensive running that's a good in. Graham isn't quite right. Ross seems raring to go.

I wouldn't risk Nank and try to get him right for R1. Naismith looks more than capable and I'd give Balta a run on the ball as second ruck to keep him involved rather than having to be a full time forward. Ooze said Balta would be all about impact from now on.

Kosi gets first crack at the other spot. He just has to just keep presenting over and over so Shai and the smalls get something to pounce on. I just can't see us going in too tall in this one given the likely conditions. It's all about getting hold of it on the inside and getting it out to the runners. Naismith will rest forward to give some aerial presence. We could play Ryan but that means leaving out a mid and he's still a baby giraffe in the wet. He needs to kill it in the VFL and keep learning his trade. Still a baby imo. When he's a commanding presence and marking everything in the twos at about age 25/26 then he will be an asset.

If Dusty and Shai have good games and we can convert better on the scoreboard we win this I reckon as they look all at sea trying to bed down their game plan. I imagine our players will be wanting to stick one up Dimma for old times sake. Look for Dusty to have a big game.

B. Short Young Broad
HB. Vlaus Gibcus Rioli
C. Pickett Dow Kmac
HF. Shai Balta Dusty
F. Campbell Kosi Green

R. Naismith Taranto Prestia

I. Hopper Grimes Ross Baker
Sub - Cumberland

Em. Ryan Brown Miller McAuliffe (for the experience)

Unlucky/not ready/inj Lefau Trezise Mansell Coulthard MRJ Smith Banks Sonz Fawcett etc

Easy,
It is possibly unfair to the K but in regard to Flappers a great servant and 2 time premiership player his play, as I see it, has deteriorated over last season and has continued down the hill over this pre- season also.

As for Koschitzke he came as insurance but has really shown little, which form is entirely consistent with his time at Hawthorn and also with what my Hawthorn mate told me to expect.

Just prefer to put in players possibly behind these two now, but new and showing great promise, especially as our first game against GC looks like it is going to be a pretty easy win.

Possibly to give the two younger replacements some confidence going into harder to win games against Carlton and Port Adelaide.

Prefer McAuliffe and Lefau with Cumberland also to play.

You are picking our round 0 team on the basis that it is looking like a "pretty easy win"??
Yeah, there is no chance that could come back to bite us.

Crazy to be thinking it will be an easy win. We've lost the last 3 times that we've played the Suns.

It’s PRE.
We're due!

Richmond will say nothing about the circumstances of Dimma’s departure until
the ball is bounced.
The old call to battle will then be heard.
Eat em alive.

What's the bet, next year AFL to play Round 0 games in Las Vegas, they seem to copy NRL even if it is a *smile* idea.
Whatever the AFL decide to do, it will be designed to shaft us, just like the minimum break between our 1st and 2nd game this season

For all the punting tigers out there we are rank outsiders in the first two games.
Suns $1.45. Tigers $2.70
Blues $1.40 Tigers $2.75

Very surprised by this, with the suns preseason form I thought we'd start favourites. The blues game is still 50/50 maybe they would start favourites on last years form.
Obviously we are not seen as any kind of threat this year by the wider public.
I definitely think we can win the Suns game and the blues game is 50/50.

Bookies basing the odds on that umps will impose themselves if the games are close ensuring a GC win
