Tambling (merged)

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I didnt notice him in the 1st half, but he came to life after half time. he did put his body in the line and did lay a great tackle in the goal square, but will he ever be cotchin or martin i dont think so.. but he can add some bling to that forward line..

I think it was a serviceable game by Tambling.
Yep - what you said. We'll just have to see how Bling pans out during the rest of the season.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Part of the problem maybe that he has never been allowed to settle in a particular role. I think he is best suited to the rt wing, with occassional runs on the ball.
He is certainly quick and skilfull. His problem has been application.
Going forward into2011 would love to see a midfield of Tambling Martin Cotchin, plus Graham?Jackson Foley, supported by Cousins Deledio and maybe White and Newman.
I hope his absence from the dreamtime game will prove to be a positive.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

We're saying the same things about Tambling, that St.Kilda supporters were saying about Montagna not so long ago. Relax and be happy that he will be a very good contributor in a good team, when we become a good team ! (Hopefully sooner rather than later ! ).

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Good midfielders don't have this many 12 posession games (or 10 to 15). When a player is only an average ball user, they need to get a lot of it. Here we have an average ball user, who doesn't get a lot of it....

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I will bet my left testicle there is nowhere near as much time and energy wasted debating Tambling within the confines of RFC as there is in forums like this. He has looked under-conditioned and out of form but he has been trying hard and has started to turn it around the only way you can - hard work. Of all the players who will look better and get more recognition when we start winning, he's up there. Tambling will be a good long term player for the RFC - maybe not the star we wanted with pick 4 but we need to build a bridge over that.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :clap

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Solid game by Richie. Didnt lapse in intensity throughout the match as he tends to do.

If he keeps that up can be a decent role player for the club.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Was good defensively and certainly put his head over the ball. A solid 4 q effort.
Still looking for Richie to hurt oppositions a little more than he is but hopefully his season is turning the corner.
Like a lot of players Friday night will give us a clearer indication of where he is at..

In a wet slog you don't hurt oppositions AT ALL with 12 touches.

You can dress things up, and justify things, but he needs to double his number of posessions to get a pass mark by AFL standards, let alone become a star!

Or he could treble his stats and become Jordan McMahon. I'll take 12 Tambling touches over 35 Sanchez touches any day.

Played his part however still needs to do more. Possession-wise had a couple more than the likes of Nahas, Nason and Edwards, however all of them had more tackles (10,7 and 11 respectively) than Tambling (6) and Nahas and Nason had 5 goals between them and looked very dangerous. Nevertheless an honest performance but thought he might have done more in conditions that should have suited him.

I suppose you missed that awesome tackle of his in the goal square, Spanish Flu? Clear tackle of the day (out of over 200), should have been rewarded, right in front of goal.

Obviously needs to get more of it, but whatever role he is playing, it is pleasing Hardman, as he is still in the side. We have all seen that Dimma drops players without fear or favor. Dimma's tick of approval means a lot more than yours, to me, anyway.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I think his role is alot different to most half forwards. He played his part on the weekend. I still don't think he will get into full gear until after the break.

You don't think his poor run with injuries is an excuse for his drop in form?

Injuries. Pfft. No excuse.
Oh thats right, that only applies to unfavoured richmond players. :)

So you think Tambling is in Kerr's class?

Jeez if you read many posters on here we've got all these good players (McGuane, Jackson, Tambling etc) yet we are/have been so catastrophically bad. Must have been the coach. Or the umpires maybe? ::) Maybe they've been played out of position?

PRE flower sniffers - objectivity? Pffft.....
