Tambling (merged)

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Richie has gone backwards this year, no doubt about it.

I still think he's struggling with the Hardwick gameplan to be honest, seems to be doing a lot of running and chasing but not getting his hands on the ball as much as last year.

His tackling needs major work, seems the opposition brushes him aside way too easily. I'd give him another couple of weeks and hope he responds otherwise back to Coburg.

He is not the only one.......anyone care to explain the Hardwick gameplan?

Look at Raines. He couldn't get a game for us last year, now he's laughing at us, playing for the best team in the comp, and enjoying the better weather. I bet Tambling is thinking along the same lines.

add Lids to that. wonder if we might lose them both at the end of the year. Not sure of their contract situation

Well another 12 possession game. Opinions? Especially interested to know from disco how his inside work went today.

Had to work all day today sorry Goody. Obviously a disappointing game though. What position did he play?

If it was as bad as it looks he'd have to be in line for a run in the 2's. 4 lacklustre games in a row isn't good enough.

Started up forward then went down back. Looked at one stage in the last quarter he hurt his foot but went back on. Looks like that foot is worrying him a bit this year. 100 games coming up.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

He was decent early then just went missing for the rest of the match.

I would drop White, Hislop, Edwards, Simmonds before him though. That might save him.

Gonna be a tough task for Tambling to take the ruck duties. ;D

Re: Tambling [Merged]

With his speed and kicking Tambling looks like a wingman /half forward and nothing else.
Play him in either position and see how he goes.
The less he is involved in physical situations the better he'll play.
There's plenty of room on the wing away from most of the physical stuff.
Still worth a game.

I agree. Tambling is often played in the wrong position. He is still not consistent. But he had a crack today and did a few good things and there were a few not so good. If he gets space and actually uses his speed he can be very damaging. Playing him off the back line is not doing him or richmond any favors.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Yet another disappointing game to add to the 85 odd others he has racked up during his career.

Interestingly Hardwick liked his game.

Obviously struggling to find positives at the moment Hardwick. Would hate to see a game where he thinks Tmbling was poor.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Wallace stuffed around with Tambling for 5 years. Failed to realise early enough that he wasn't the midfielder we drafted to him be , but kept him there to justify the high pick. Work hard today. He's not perfect, has quite a few flaws and in hindsight we all know what we should've done in "that" draft.
There are plenty of far more mediocre and far less talented players on our list that far from receiving the criticism they deserve, often receive a ridiculous amount of plaudits from the peanut gallery who've probably forgotten what a good player really looks like after years of following this club..

Of course those players weren't drafted ahead of Franklin. Scapegoat.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Its not about his draft position. I dont care who was taken before or after him, or who we could have had. The fact of the matter is that he does not work hard enough for an AFL footballer.
The fact we are still debating his best position after a hundred games tells me he doesnt have one.
I really thoght he would step up and show something this year, but he just doesnt have anything to show.
