I'm a fan of Ritchie's but i wonder wether it wouldn't be such a bad idea to let him play a couple of games at Coburg to hopefully get 25-30 touches to get a bit more confidence.

Make him earn his spot.

It won't hurt him to have to do this. The younger players should rotate through the senior team. Play a few games in a row and go back to work on their weaknesses. A lot of players have had too many easy games at this club for a very long time.

Raines, Pattison, Polo and Foley had to earn their places, and it didn' t do them any harm. Meyer is having to earn his spot at present.

There's also the argument that we need these guys to get to 40/50/60 AFL games as soon as possible. Which way do you go? :don't know

Replace him with Meyer or Edwards for three games. It is still getting games into the inexperienced group. If he comes back better for the experience, then everyone wins.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the same? Not much comment about him which I find surprising.
Does some good things but too flashy.

Re: I thought Ritchie Tambling was ok.

i thought his game was ordinary he reminds me alot of mark merenda early in his career. He used to look lost at times or he would thumble the ball at the wrong time or just couldnt get into the swing of the game. He was frustrating to watch like Tambling because you could see he had the ability and you were just waiting for him to do someting special but it just wouldnt happen.I hope Tambling can find his mojo soon cause i think it will be a sight to see when it finally does Click for him.

Re: I thought Ritchie Tambling was ok.

The big thing for me was that he backed into a pack last night and took that overhead grab. He was backing back into the unknown and should have got smashed, I don't think he was aware of what was or was not coming. First time he did that in my memory.

Really good sign that he has that confidence in his body.

Next he needs to take a few on, have a bounce, weave some natural magic without thinking. I don't want to say this because I hate the saying but he is on the verge of a breakout game. Not sure if he will kick 6 or have 30 possies. He may kick 3 in ten minutes or just have a patch of brilliance but it is the first time he has gave me that feeling.

I could be way out but ATM that is my gut feel.

Re: I thought Ritchie Tambling was ok.

I thought Tambling was very average. My primary concern for Tambling (we can leave his disposal to one side for a second) is his fitness. I don't think he is fit enough for AFL. He appears to be acting like a long distance runner who has had his kick run out of him - so all he can do is watch other run away from him while he runs around at the same pace. Don't like calling young players lazy particularly if they are simply too unfit. Gut running is a skill in itself that many players never learn. Its only exceptional athletes like Cousins and Stevens that really work themselves all the way into the ground. Saying that did anyone see Eddie Betts run himself into the ground so hard that trainers had to help him back because his legs had the wobbles. Tambling doesn't have to watch replays of Davey, Betts will do quite nicely.

Some fair points there BS, yeah saw that with betts who knows maybe his fitness base isn't as good as others and tires more quickly he is a joke of a footballer, please do not say he is a gun cause then ill be saying krak is an absolute super star.
Incidently i was very happy with kraks pressure and close in the clinches.

Re: I thought Ritchie Tambling was ok.

He didn't say he is a gun

The drafting has been a disgrace ive said it for years.

Edwards looks good early and can play and i am looking forward to this kid running around for the tigs but i reckon we shoulda taken Eric Mackenzie or Mitch Brown as specialist Key Backs at 195 cm who arre burning over in WA at the moment. I reckon these 2 will bite us.

But we couldn't have picked up Mitch Brown at 26, so thats a moot point.

Don't remember him doing much - who was on him Raines or Newman? He did flog himself though which was the point I was trying to make.

Yep understand that its more my arguing we shouldve taken Eric at 26.

We took Edwards with # 26 and WCE took McKenzie with #29 so we could and should have taken McKenzie thats what i'm getting at.

WCE took Brown at #16 he was an option but we took Jack which doesnt bother me, in a perfect world for a critical list weakness we wouldve done well taking JR or Brown at 13 as we did, and McKenzie at 26, Connors where we took him wouldve been a greater result in regard to list and structure and future depth imo.

Re: I thought Ritchie Tambling was ok.

The only quality we have seen from Tambling is quick dodge & weave with absolute bursts of speed is what we are going to get from him for the rest of his career.

He is a very lazy player when he wants to and his kicking skills are atrocious.

Another average player.

Re: I thought Ritchie Tambling was ok.

2 goals but crikey Bling was quiet.
I'm getting a little worried to be honest when my favourite whipping boy Krak, upstages our no4 draft pick.
Despite being his Prez, seriously Richie may deserve a run with Coburg..... :-\

Re: I thought Ritchie Tambling was ok.

Agree oldie, Tambling for most of the game looked as if he was herding sheep.

(Franklin :-X)

Disagree Oldie - tambling looking better with each outing - If he was with a strong side would already have exploded.

Was disapointed last week but his work better this week - I think Wallace needs to tell him to forget about zoning or sitting in the right hole or herding sheep and let him play on his instincts and to throw himself at every contest.
