Tambling wasn't being tagged by the best in the business. Tambling didn't have a disrupted pre-season. Tambling has played far more games. Tambling is a number of years older. Tambling has had a history of going walkabout historically. Other than all those I can see your point. ;D

tambling did have a modified program pre season

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Hes been tried in every position in nearly 100 games and is yet to prove himself as a decent footballer.

To be dropped and replaced with somebody new, (Webberly / Dea?). A player on debut wont do any worse than the uncompetitive tripe this bloke is serving up each week.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Tambling was our best ( besides Lids) for 10-12 week stretch last year - that period proved to me he could play - IMO he needs to play HBF.

He may struggle more then most players though if not used the way hes comfortable.

thats his negative IMO - hes not a player who can adjust to different roles.

but lets get him the role he performs at and he will shine.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Dont totally disagree with you U2. He did have a stretch of games last year where he at least showed some competence. Lets call it twelve and add another 12 over his career for arguments sake. Is that what we really want, a player who has an afl standard game every four weeks (based on 24/98)?

no but 12 weeks stretch surely showed hes capable. I can only think playing him where he was best (behind the ball) is the way for him.

hes not alone at not showing consistancy - can't remember many on our list that have strung 12 games as good as that.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Despite his poor start to the season, Bling is a keeper for a couple of reasons.

1. He is not worth anything to anyone else, and he can play reasonable footy at times. Not the worst on our list, and with the compromised drafts coming up, he is still worth perservering with. Keep in mind he was universally considered a top talent in a very strong draft.

2. Dimma needs more time to evaluate him. Bling joined under Wallace, so he needs a little more time to try and fit Dimma's approach to the game.

But realistically, right now if we got offered anything decent for him at the end of the season, you'd have to have a good look at it.

Does anyone know how many years Tambling has got to go on his current contract?

Pretty sure it's just the rest of this year Smoking.

Richie has been down but we all know he's capable of much better. Hopefully with a bit of support he'll get his confidence back and have a good season. Far too early to be writing him off or talking of delisting him.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

Sadly you just know if we do get rid of him, he will star at another club. Hopefully he can start recapturing some of that form he had last year

Re: Tambling [Merged]

I reckon we need to stop looking at Richie as a top draft pick and judge him on his efforts on the ground by themselves.
He can play a bit but not at a level we expect of a top pick - that's not his fault.
We picked him up with a high pick same as we did with JON.
Blame the recruiters for where he was chosen .
judge Richie on his ability.

Hopefully another club thinks the same.
The rest of Tambling's year will decide whether he wants to be at Richmond or elsewhere.
If he chooses the latter I expect us to be suitably compensated.

Re: Tambling [Merged]

As I've said often, I reckon he'd be a good link man in a good side. When the side is up, he can play well, an RT fan could argue when he plays well it sparks the side to play well but I don't buy that for one second. He could do a Farren Ray, or like stokes at Gellong, Not really worth a cold pie to us. We won't be a good side for a fair while, so GC or GWS, come on down, have we got a deal for you. (Not that they will necessarily be good sides for a while, they'll just be on the hunt for any players with any sort of ability and profile, and the compo will be good. It could work out well and compensate in some part for the weakened draft)

OK, I think we all should.

What is his greatest strengths flemmo?

AGree GPB - people are judging him on his performances and they are not happy. The lack of consistency is a big issue. And the apparent lack of application at times.

He has the rest of the year to show he really wants to be an AFL footballer.

Bling's strengths are clean hands, quite equisite skills in close, speed and ability to hit a target. Hardly a common thread in the RFC squad at the moment.

Sure he has had a quiet start to the year but jeez we have been bad and he is adapting to a new coach and new game plan and new role.

lets focus on the other duds who will never never ever make it.
