good point good point evolution baby. He's the nastiest that holds any prominent posi. RL is so nasty they could never contemplate giving him a post. I knew he'd pop up when Crighton-Brown was involved. RL holds a lot of sway in the WA libs.

I obviously haven't read this thread closely enough. Who are "all you ALP voters" you refer to Livers?

Socialist Alliance for me.

Crash Test Dummies
[/quote] mmm mmm the dummies rock :boldyellow on a side note ,if anyone wants to know how a labour guvvermint behaves ,go to your local a.b.c shop and buy/hire LABOUR IN POWER on dvd,and you work out why we had the recession we had to have.simple fact is they were too busy infighting for power,R.E keatings ego,to give a *smile* what us plebs/peseants had to deal with.the best thing about this dvd is that its outa thier own mouths.THEY WERE TOO BUSY.labour is a rabble with too many factions that will never pull together. and i would never vote for a bloke that looks like mr garrison !!!keating should shut the buck up ,fraser also.however me thinks little kevvey will get over the line because the general aust voters are clueless ,and turn it in to a populartiy vote instead of policies .just refer to victorian politics ,the moron keeps on winning power ????if anyone can explain to me/we what the *smile* steven has done apart from blame jeff im happy to listen ;D

On keating, crap. It was a global recession. People love to endlessly jump on 'the recession we had to have' line, but according to economics, it actually was the recession we had to have. Yes the ALP can be a factional rabble, but so can the libs/ nats, they just hide it better, which is good for them.

Yep, party discipline is enforced brilliantly in the coalition.

You will find that the US, UK and much of Europe were also in recession in the early 1990s. Your recollection of current events is shonky so little wonder your grasp of history is woeful into the bargain. :wavey

We'll have to add economics to the list of areas you struggle in, Shane Stone.

Still, at least you have that Order of Australia Howard nominated you for :rofl

Wonder if he knows about the economic record of his pin up lawyer Coconut Howard when he was Treasurer? Bottom of the Harbour, etc etc
I see housing affordability is as it's worst since '87.

Correct. Even though interests rates hit 17% at the last recession, because house prices were so far below their real value there were bargains to be had.

Nowadays houses are overvalued and everyone is in debt up to their eyeballs... Howard won't save anyone when the next one hits and it's gonna be carnage >:D

Is there an election soon in NSW?

Must be!

Took the wife, toddler and our old english sheepdog out for a picnic down by the 'Bidgee this afternoon - beaut day - just great sitting in the shade and then having a kick of the footy with Stuart my nearly 4yo.

On arriving home there was a message on our answering machine - it was the sitting local NSW Member of Parliament - just calling to see if we are happy with the way things in our own electorate are going and if so please vote for him! I feel privileged - actually above the rest of those in my electorate for I got a person to person call from my MP - first time I have heard from him seen him since I moved to the electorate - so I am guessing its election time in NSW.

Jokes aside - who the bloody hell does a New South Welshman vote for? The current Labor Government have really made a meal of it - there are so many things wrong with the way NSW is going - add to that the number of Government Ministers being caught out and having to resign (Child Porn etc etc.) - talk about arrogant and aloof - the NSW Labor Government should be thrown out in a landslide.

BUT - strewth the opposition are in such disarray that the fumbling bumbling Labor Government is 9 points ahead on the polls - I thought faction fighting was restrticted to the left of politics in Australia - not in NSW the Liberals and the Nationals are both demonised from within and the way Debnam got into leadership was through a bloody messy faction fight.

I am buggered if I know who to vote for - surely we as a people deserve better!......
