Talking Politics

Reckon Harris comfortably.

And I think Trump will attempt an “insurrection” sooner rather than later as he is not in the Oval Office this time round. The alternative for him is jail time.

I don’t think the “insurrection” will amount to anything. Participants were prosecuted last time and security will be tightened.

Lastly, if the republicans are roundly beaten I expect a robust internal conversation on whether “chaos” politics is enough to win government. The novelty of 2016 has evaporated.

Dutton and his team will be watching closely. “Make Australia Great Again” is trending.

Dems voters typically outnumber GOP voters when it comes to early voting. But they have had record numbers this year so who knows what the split is.

I hope they are right.

(but an Adam Khoo post holds as much credibility as a DailyMail post)

Again, its the data that's important, not who posts it. Here's some more actual data.

Will wait for the results to be finalized before I celebrate or commiserate. I don’t trust the polls after the debacles from a few years back when they were consistently wrong.

If republicans lose due to getting folks into the Supreme Court to overturn roe v wade that eventually leads to that 6-3 majority getting pushed back the other way.

That will be mega karma.

In the meantime hundreds of thousands of unwanted children will be born.

They have completely misunderstood this issue and the anger that it presents to women. There are already 2 women that have known to have died because of not being able to access an abortion.

I think those close to Trumps strategy know this, but because they've really played to the evangelical Christian right they won't talk out about it, but they also haven't been talking too much about supporting it, sometimes Trump has gone off piste and spoken about it, but its clear they aren't campaigning on it, as they know how divisive it is for women. If women get out and vote in large numbers they know they are screwed so have tried not to comment on it, but I don't think it will matter, the anger around this amongst women is enormous.

Watched a vid the other day that was about how both the major USA parties are doing all they can to stop any credible third party (Greens mostly) from even being able to register in a state. Was pretty interesting, along with worrying.

The Dems and GoP are both out to restrict the choices Americans have at the ballot box.

Yay democracy...

In some interesting news, Netanyahu has fired his defence minister.

No overly surprising, but still interesting in the context of where the conflict is at.

In some ways what is equally important is that the democrats get to take back the senate and the House.

Both are very close. The Dems 51-49 in the senate and the republicans by 12 in the house.

Even if Drumpf wins the Presidency having the Dems win the house and the senate will at least keep him in some sort of check.

Israel has also withdrawn its agreement with UNRWA overnight, quietly with the world looking at the US elections.
UNRWA provides the vast majority of the aid and relief work in Gaza atm.

Won’t say anymore given where discussion on this topic ended last time.
