Sydney Stack

Can't argue with that. It's unfathomable considering timing and climate. Whatever happens I hope we can give him the support to get through what will be a difficult time. At the same time you can understand if the club will be focused on other things and that's not even limited to finals. Next year team lists, cap size, VFL program etc
I hope we give that same level of support to both players. And I want both to return.
Both have contracts, both were judged to be good enough to remain on the country’s best AFL
list. Both have plenty to offer and the environment, which is the RFC under Peggy and Ben, will move to give them both every chance.

it's a fair question to ask why the club said the players will pay if they're not??

I honestly think that Benny jumped the gun. He was obviously extremely upset about what happened and wanted to get on the front foot as soon as possible.

I can't see Stack and CCJ paying the fine.

All things being equal, it is too harsh a penalty for these young guys.

10 weeks ban and sacked maybe, but not a financial penalty like that.

I am not a proponent of gagging posters on this forum,, (unless it is offensive of course), people have a delete option if you they are really that affronted with content being posted.

Agree.

The function you refer to Caesar is ignore, not delete. If people want to use it, you click on the profile of the poster whose posts you don't want to see then hit ignore.

Sydney Stack can't afford to pay this . (Nor CCJ.)

RFC won't abide this.

We'll find a way of paying the fine. Truth.

I reckon it’s a way of impressing upon them the gravity of their actions old Jack. You’d think Benny, with his legal and AFLPA background, would know the score.

As they should be. Even if they have to chalk up $37.5k each, they're still going to be earning more than the millions around the country on JobKeeper/JobSeeker at the moment due to the economy collapsing.

A monumental fine deserved for a monumental f*ck up, imo.

Rookie pay is $85K, plus match payments = $130K for Stack, x 50% due to COVID = $65K. Take out $37.5K and basic living expenses and he’s in poverty. CJ in third year is entitled to $105K minimum and with a solitary game to his name, is probably on a similar amount to Stack. Doubt the club ever expected the players to pay the lot.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot the small thing called tax.

I think the next few months will be the most crucial of his career.

He's at a crossroads. He can either put his head down, his bum up and come back in ripping shape next year. Or, he will fall into bad habits like he apparently did while the competition was on hold. It's up to him. I have my reservations how he goes away from the club environment.

Sydney has shown us Tiger supporters, the general footy public, but most of all himself, what he is capable of when he knuckles down & does the hard work required to be an AFL player.
The ball is very firmly in his court as to what he WANTS to be remembered as. Either a star player who got the best out of himself or just another wasted talent.

A positive sign would be Sydney staying in Melbourne and training. If alternatively he appears desperate to get back to WA then I'd say he's gone.

Bolton must be pissed off. Took Stack under is wing to a certain extent and helped him train while over in WA>

I reckon the decisions Syd makes in the next month will determine his future.
