MCG = 160m long by 141 wide
Etihad = 159.5 by 128.8
Simmonds = 170 by 115
SCG = 149 x 136
ANZ = 160 x 118
Spotless = 164 x 123
Adelaide Oval = 167 x 124
Subi = 175.6 x 122.4
Optus Stadium = 165 x 130
Gabba = 156 x 138
Metricon = 160 x 134
Manuka = 162.5 x 138.4
Aurora = 165 x 135
Blundstone = 175 x 133.5

Optus 5 m longer but narrower by 11m compared to the G definitely closer to Etihad. I thought it was supposed to be wider than that. The closest to the G are The Gabba, Metricon, Manuka and Aurora. We don't play Aurora ever as we always play the Hawks at the G but have pretty good records at the gabba and metricon in particular.

Not sure why so many commentators say that the new Perth stadium is the same as the G, when it's 5metres shorter and -11 metres wide.

** I still haven't the Eagles play the on that ground with the same game style in the wet.
I'm not convinced the Eagles are as good as people think, we played worse against Adelaide in Adelaide

Going to be an interesting couple of months.

Did the Eagles expose a weakness in our system that other teams can exploit, or was it just a one off where we played poorly and they played well?

Teams are looking to pick us apart. North went close the previous week. I reckon our success is built on system and gameplan moreso than talent. More talented sides out there I reckon, but our system gets the most out of what we have. If it breaks down, or is broken down by other sides, then it will be interesting.

I still draw comfort from the fact that at half time we were even and had 5 more scoring shots. Was it exposing or was it just that they played out of their skin and we were off our pressured game a bit? The one common thread in the last two games and the Adelaide game is that the opposition has kicked very straight. Maybe we're allowing them to get shots too close to goal or too much down the corridor. I think overall our game just needs tweaking to address the weaknesses that have been exploited. I'm not panicking personally. We're second on the ladder with a great percentage and our only losses have been to 1st and 4th on the ladder at their grounds.

Keep fighting the good fight Tobes. But to some extent you are right. The game plan has to fit the strengths of the players and will need tweaking based on personnel.

You'd kill for a Mcgovern or Darling or even De Goey to play the Townsend role at the moment.

The "experts" getting all excited with west coasts kicking game. Hopefully they bring this into the finals at the g. Short memories - the crows had the best kicking game last year also. Gonna be fun dismantling them like the crows.

I laughed too. Reckon dimma was great in his presser, they are so big, strong, they are the favourites etc.

Carlton 15.5
Adelaide 18.10
Norf 11.6
WCE 20.10.

only twice has our opponent kicked more points than goals (Brisbane and Freo). so teams are either kicking amazingingly straight against us, or we always concede goals from good positions. the data suggests the latter.

Complete idiots.
It’s dire straits at the club.
We need to shuffle the deck chairs on the titanic.
Club is going down the toilet
Thanks for nothing Dimma!

Our pressure was ranked 16th for the round. We weren't switched on apart from quarter 2 when we destroyed them.

I wonder what the pressure rating was for our 2nd quarter?

EDIT: Also, reading the HUN on Monday, there was a lot of red in the metres gained and pressure acts columns. A lot of players were down.

The game kind of reminded me of the St Kilda game last year.
Got our arse handed to us in the first quarter and never recovered.

Just finished watching the replay!

Their was an tone of excitement from the commentators involved with the way we play! Maybe its the difference between fox n 7?

But the media grabs I've heard today all sounded like respect rather than back handed compliments with a tone of salt.

Are we finally getting the respect we deserve?

Eddy seemed pumped for our last quarter goals. Maybe he's sick of the cats too, or was just compensating for DW (eg DW when the cats goaled "HOTTER THAN HOT!!" vs when the tigers goaled "that's a goal"). Although even DW gave us a compliment after Rioli's goal :eek:

The last couple of games I've heard with Eddie commentating have made it pretty clear that he has a serious case of 'man love' happening over Dusty, although it's not as creepy as when Bruce keeps referring to Cyril as 'special'.

It's been there ever since Dusty agreed to announce his "decision" on the Footy Show

For all his Collingwood-ness, think Eddie's a bit of a closet Tiger fan.
He's my age so he grew up following the VFL of the 70s and 80s and I'm guessing he loves the big Victorian rivalries and he'd much rather see Collingwood v Richmond than West Coast v Gold Coast.
