Steve Morris F/S

Worth keeping to see if a decent coach can turn him around. Was a better player before 3 years of Hardwick development.

Contracted till end of 2017 :p
Ballantyne kicked 6 on him
Hope he gets his shoulder fixed soon and we try someone else in his role

Has heart but far too kamikaze like in his desperation and consequently makes loads od mistakes and skill errors. Hasn't had what I call a good game for a while now but is always picked despite appearing to be carrying an injured shoulder. Maybe if he had his shoulder fixed he could have some improvement in his play but whether that would be at a consistent AFL standard I don't know

Dead set dud.

Said it the moment I saw him first play.

His name is the first on the team sheet each week. We play him no matter how *smile* he was the previous week. It's like we must squeeze him in no matter what.

He would be one I would be delisting if it wasn't for his 3 year contract extension. 3 years!? *smile* me dead!

Lets his man get five metres clear and the wins coaching plaudits for desperate chases. ???

Its ridiculous isn't it, then he's 'couragous' because he flies for the ball, continually loses his feet AND HIS MAN and gets up holding his shoulder

:rofl

It's spot on.

He's painful to watch now. And expensive. Way too loose.
Grimes displayed a much smarter approach to that little Ballantyne.

Gave Morris (a depth player) 3 years when he would have taken 1 year on minimum wage and let White walk because we only offered him one and he wanted three!!!??? :duh :duh :duh

It's a joke isn't it.

Watch them go into self preservation mode this off season.

The club won't want to see this happen again next year so they'll not doubt go out and make more stupid decisions and shoot itself in the foot even more.

It's the never ending cycle.

You know it will happen. It's in our DNA now.

It a disgrace that Helbig & Darrou have been left to rot in the 2nds while Morris and Chaplin have been stinking it up the whole season.

Morris has played with an injured shoulder all season.

Our lack of a replacement smaller BP has seen him play when he should have been rested.

His guts & determination are to be respected.

His father was the same.

Helbig couldn't be trialled as a small defender? McDonough couldn't be persisted with? Everyone apart from the coaching staff realises he shouldn't be playing.

As for his 'guts and determination', that may well be the case but they are outweighed by the fact that he's reckless, doesn't keep his feet and is a dumb footballer.

On McDonough, as I've posted previously, the smaller BP is one of the most accountable positions on the field.
It was a risk debuting Morris there two years ago, except that we had no one else.
Ideally, you'd give McDonough 50 senior games around the ground, before placing him in a BP.

Helbig is a different proposition, as he is not a junior.
At 22yo, with 16 senior games and 27 VFL games, he desperately needs to prove something before he may be de-listed.
The smaller BP in the seniors may just be that opportunity.

I completely disagree, i don't think guts and determination have anything to do with his lack of thinking and lack of accountability. I barely remember a smart piece of play from this bloke. His lack of polish is glaring which is why a coach like Lyon and many others love isolating him one on one
