Might be a silly question but what is an F/S player?
Father / Son

I don't like these gimmee chances these players get just because their daddy played at the club. I'm sure the club/coaches do some assessment on whether the son's skill is at AFL level, but watching Morris now for nearly 2 years, I can't see much value for the long term.

Father-Son

(Wikipedia)
1. Individual clubs are free to nominate potential father-son recruits within the eligibility guidelines below.
2. A meeting is held on the Monday before the start of trade week where clubs can bid for the nominated players. Each club has the option to bid, in reverse ladder order, for the nominated players.
3. If a bid is made, the club that nominated the father-son player must use its next available selection if it wishes to retain its hold on that player. If a club nominating the father-son player declines to match the selection nominated, the club with the successful bid must use that selection at the Draft to select the player.
4. Any club that makes a successful bid on a father-son selection must commit to pick the player they nominate.
5. If no bid is made by another club, the club that nominated the father-son eligible player will forfeit its last selection in the draft to select the player.

Famous FS players - Gary Ablett Jnr; Jobe Watson; Travis Cloke;

They are no longer the gimme picks they used to be. If there is a FS nominated junior and they are likely to go in the first round then it is most likely that they'll need to be taken with a first round pick as another club is likely to nominate them prior to the draft with a high pick.

We can call Richo, Bowden & Tucky as success, but we're still in the negative side of the W-L ratio.

One reason why I don't buy into F/S players a lot.

Is the fact his father played for RFC relevant? Didn't we pick him up from the SANFL as a mature age player at the recommendation of Andy Collins or am I confusing him with someone else? I had it in mind we picked him up the same as we did with Shane Tuck.

Yeah we got him through a trade, but I wouldn't be surprised there was some favouritism considering he was the son of Kevin Morris.

TF surely you are taking the *smile*.

You do realise we rejected him when he first finished playing in the under 18's. Hardly call that favouritism.

He hasn't had a great season but what about the previous two years?

The move to defensive forward will be the best thing for him and the team. Since Kingy went down the forward line has been all over the shop.

Once he gets the confidence to start hitting the scoreboard he will be even better than Kingy as he is faster, better at attacking the man and 7 years younger.

Agreed.
Also means that his shoulder injury is not so critical.
It's obvious they're going to keep playing him rather than quit for surgery so a move to forward is a way out.

What about a 2nd chance after being rejected? Our club melts with F/S opportunities....David Bourke, Nick Jewell, early Bowdens (pre-Joel)....even the non-Richmond ones: Paul Hudson, Ty Zantuck.....the list goes on.

Maybe you can see the best in him, whereas I can't.

Kevin Sheedy made sure via GWS swap of picks that he went to RFC, wouldnt be surprised his dad called Sheedy to ask if it could happen.
I forget the picks we just swapped one position. (picks next to each other)

I was rapt with his role yesterday. Has found his spot. The turnovers aren't as glaring and his intent is unquestionable. Well done dimma!

Morris Tiger tough just like his old man & that is what Tigers need. Got me beat how Don's Old Man Fletcher has lasted so long as his old man never seemed to get his hands dirty but then you would not have seen him play.

Should go to either Goddard, Hibberd, Demspey, Heppell or Fletcher.

They have many options who can drive from the back half. It will be interesting to see who he goes to this week.

Hibberd

Goddard might be a bit big for him but he should get a chance to savage him early ;)
