Steve Morris F/S

I'm not a Steve Morris fan - repeat NOT

But it was a great tackle by him that put pressure on the Demon ball carrier that led to our first (or was it second) goal on Sunday.

Nothing is all bad and nothing is all good - Morris has had something either trained out of him or kicked out of him. Either way he is not AFL Finals Standard IMO. He may have been once but not now.

But it was a great pressure tackle on Sunday.

Morris has always been able to tackle well, in fact he's up there with the best tacklers at Richmond.

Its the rest of his game that is crap. He's been at Richmond for a few years now and yet he's
failed to develop into a better quality player than when he first arrived at Punt Road.

Damning failure of the Football Departments Player Development Manager in my book....

Too many players have gone backwards for it to be a coincidence. Morris has his limitations but his instincts to run and attack have been completely dulled down from his first year. Look at the first instincts of our players now and you can see they are hesitant and confused. You hesitate for a split second and you're gone. Players are hesitant out of sync confused its a mess. I know you like to blame the players but when our best players in cotch and dusty start to look like c graders then you need to think about the overall system they are trying to ply their trade in.
Spot on Harry. After 7 years watching Dimma, I don't understand how people can't see this.

Far too much run and carry handball not used to it. Had to freeze frame it a few times to stop the run as per current game plan
Any semblance of flair has been coached out of the players by none other than Dimmer

I don't blame the players. Its not their fault they aren't good enough. If you ain't got socks you can't pull em up. Morris like a lot of em, doesn't have any socks.

Those were the days my friend.
We thought they would never end.

Jackson, Newman and Foley caused that bit of play.

Was at that game. Pantsed the Dawks .. loved it. Still fond memories.

Now look at them ... compared to us.

Actually thought he was good in his first year. Hard running, attacking. What happened? Hardwicks coaching.

Hardwick tried to turn the best back pocket we'd had in years (first season) into a fwd pocket the 1st year he'd recovered from shoulder surgery is what happened.
Seriously Hardwick is one of the worst judges of a footballers capabilities I have seen at Tigerland.
He keeps wanting to turn players into something they're not.

K.I.S.S. theory Dimma!

When Morris arrived I thought we had finally found our tough back pocket that could stop those runts like Betts and Ballantyne and Milne owning us. He was great, hard at it tight defensively and not too bad on offence. The past 12 to 18 months he's been a different player. He's not just improved, he's regressed. Badly. It all goes back to when we made him play with that shoulder that kept coming out.

I think Lee posted some stats once that Morris had 3 20+ possession games in his first season but none since.

Morris was a hard running back flanker in the sanfl who took the game on with his run and carry. He brought this style to us in his first season. Watch some tapes of his first season with us and notice how his first instinct when getting the ball is to run forward, attack, take the game on. Watch him now and he will look sideways backwards stop prop do a 360. He looked confident now looks lost and confused. You can thank hardwick for this.

Sadly the same can be said for most players on the list. We've coached their confidence and attacking instincts out of them.

General both Morris & Chaplin were replaced in the leadership group for this year by Rance & ShEdwards.
Cotchin, Maric & Lids are the others.

i dont think it is a coincidence that we made the finals with Morris and Chaplin in the leadership group, but are now playing terribly without them.
if possible i think we should consider elevating them to co-captains for the rest of the year.

Our leadership group is as follows:

Alex Rance, Shane Edwards, Brett Deledio, Ivan Maric and Trent Cotchin.

They havent played together yet this year

Happy to see Morro keep his spot :hihi
Should be a bumper crowd this week possibly break AFL records just to watch his :star jumps. Hope everyone has reserved their seats :p

This is a results based business, if you don't perform you'll play in the seconds (or something like that)
