Steve Morris F/S

I will basically agree with most here, great work by the club.

As someone mentioned, we basically get him for free.

When I 1st heard the deal, i thought we must of given away a later draft pick too. To go from pick 14 to pick 15 only to get a player is fantastic. If he turns out to be a player, we basically gave up nothing. If he doesn't make it at AFL, it basically cost us nothing. So we can't lose. I also read on the RFC site they thanked GWS for their assistance. Must agree. It basically has nothing to do with GWS, but these are the rules this year, so it was good of them to not stand in out way, they got a little bit out of it, but allowed us to get the kid.

so 3 thoughts.

1. Well done RFC. Getting a player for dropping just 1 place in the draft is as close to getting a player for free as you can get, cant remember a deal as close to free as that before. Great work.

2. Good to see our list and recruiting staff seem to be all over all possibilities. It is widely said that it is a thin draft, and our course with GWS, clubs picks are lower than usual. And it has been said clubs must explore ourside the usual paths, and look for late bloomers. Hopefully we have found one. The rookie draft shows that often kids who are initially overlooked can mature into good players a bit later, many good players have started as rookies. So excellent to see our club looking everywhere for some talant, and working well to get them and give them a go.

3. Just on Maric. If Adel think they want out 1st pick at 14, now 15, they are dreaming. our 2nd round pick seems fair. Maybe they are thinking of Tambling last year, giving up their end of round 1 compo pick, and a 3rd round pick. I reckon they think they gave up too much for Tambling, which they did being a round 1 and 3. There is no way we are going to return our 1st round this year. Either 2nd round, or if it is 2 picks, both later picks like round 3 and 5. Just becasue they gave up too much last year for Tambling, doesn't mean we return the favour this year. Hold our nerve, and if Adel don't play, then *smile* em. We will find another ruckman somewhere else.

Craig's "SOK" works.

"Sock". Short. Sweet. Unique. Even the cheersquad could spell it right.

Of course now all eyes will be on who is taken at 14 and who is taken at 15. Woebetide the RFC if 14 turns out to be a gun and 15 turns out to be a dud.

Hopefully its the other way around! ;D

Surely our luck has to change sooner or later.

Great get by us.

What concerns me is the accurate reporting of the deal in the media days before the deal could have been concluded. What if Port Adelaide (or any other club) had used these reports to gazump us once trade week had started.

There's heaps of rumours prior to trade week that have not been finalized eg the bs of Maric to us for our Tambling compensation pick. This I don't mind. But when they get this accurate, I wonder who's been talking to the journos?

It is no big deal. Both this and the Collingwood deal were reported in the same article. No risk as I am sure some type of agreement was made to lock this in.

You'd think so. At least SANFL team of the year is a fair step up from our love with SANFL reserves players.

Sounds very much the same player as Mitch ... “He's tenacious and courageous and gives it everything he's got.

“Another plus with him is his versatility. He can also be used in the midfield, or as a defensive forward."

Cannot see Steve getting a game ahead of Mitch Farmer ... yeah right!

GWS because their deal with Collingwood was also accurately reported

Actually i thought he looked like that other bomber mongrel in Mark johnson...

Interviewed on SEN this morning and sounded klike he really wanted to come to the Tiges despite some reports to the contrary. He should play as a lock down defender or mid, which is just what we need, probably don't need to focus on this area in the draft now.

That assumes that we would have taken the same player at Pick 14 that GWS will take .
Methinks GWS will be after a tall and the Tigers a midfielder, so should be no harm done.
Well done Tiges.
