Steve Morris F/S

He just doesnt appear smart enough to play afl football. Whether its simple stuff like cutting opponents lines, leaving them open goal side at contests, trying to spoil when he has absolutely no chance at making the contest, or generally just ball watching - he seems to make dumb decisions constantly. Cant knock his effort or endeavor but i am highly skeptical even a new coach and assistants would be able to make much difference.

What if they move him further from goal?

His errors will mean less.

His chasing and speed and en devour are 10/10 (see his chase on White)

He looks like a proper defensive forward to me.

A King-like move to the forward pocket perhaps?

He is disaster. With the ball and even his defending is gone backwards.
Need to find something better.

haven't commented much about Morris Minor but he was all over the shop on Sunday. its like this huge amount of energy he has gets the better of him. the idea of making him a 'King - like' forward isn't a bad one. but can he kick? i hardly recall seeing him kick?

good call. Kingy was exactly the same. we all loved his endeavour down back, but used to back his opponent for most goals.

Suicide Blonde to the FP for sure.

Is it possible to call a farce for someone that is being selected, as opposed to not being selected?

They've played him like that a little bit this year, never a full match. He can kick. Seen him run up the ground and do it a few times in the past. Hasn't done it much this year, but then the entire team has been handball happy for most of it. Up until Sunday Houli, who has a decent kick, preferred to handball rather than kick it most of the time.

He played up forward in the GWS game on Shaw and tore him a new one... the following week against the Bummers he tried to play the same role on Hibberd? ( cant recall exactly who he played on) and he got pants...as did the whole team that night mind you.

Need the Student's t-distribution to solve that one.

I'm.not sure they are the best comparison. King is a smart footballer with good skills but was poor defensively as a back pocket. Morris is not a smart footballer and has average skills but has shown he can be very effective defensively in the backline.

His agility seems to be shot along with his football handling skillset. Even the skinny Port kids who could not wrap up arms in tackles all day actually ragdolled Morris to the point where he literally coughed the ball up like he had been hit up by a front rower in rugby - embarassing.

Shudder!!!

First King can kick 50 metres plus on both pegs. Morris cant kick over a jam tin.

Second Kingy is composed. His main skill in attack is to win the ball hold and deliver with intent. Morris is basically a marionette blowing in the breeze as regards decision making is concerned.

Third Kingy doesn't go to ground. Morris' pegs are all spifflicated cartlidge and offal, no bones.

Fourth Kingy is effective.

Fifth Kingy is feared and respected.

Sixth Kingy is Kingy!

Actually very different players and skill sets for mine..

Kingy is definitely more skillful in my opinion and can be a matchwinner, Steve is a tight hard at it defender, dont think he can make it as a forward although happy to be proven wrong.

To the VFL for confidence for mine...give McDonough another go and give Morris some competition to get his spot back.
