If Elton keeps doing well in the twos he probably deserves a game or two in the big league to give him a taste of what's expected.

He might just have to wait - been a lot of years since we had this predicament.

Yep. Swingman by the looks of it. Possibly late in the season if we're out of finals.

Yep I like him , something a bit special there ....all the tall kids need to do a D Astbury an lock that spot away, they all have talent it's just been an AFL talent an lets not forget McBean

If you put Elton, Griffiths, Hampson up for an air ball there wouldn't be many in the AFL who could go with them. Altitude matters a lot.

At catching it high IMO Elton is the best to date. Griffo may surpass his younger team-mate soon.

this table does not show anything but a bunch of numbers...give us some real stats

Aren't stats just a bunch of numbers? :headscratch

Hampson's contested marking has underwhelmed me at this stage. Tap stats dont get me excited. We showed last year that you can give Nic Nat (in from) and Cox all the taps in the world and still register a 10 goal win.

Unless he gives us more around the ground, Im eyeing IVAN back in 5 weeks with 1 and 1/2 games in the VFL. IF we do something rare and manage our big blokes the next few years we can lay claim to some of the best tall timber in the comp. Something we could never boast over the last 35 years.

Look at this stage I think its appropriate to ask the following question. Why did we upgrade Derickx to Hampson again? Tom's getting a game each week and he's improving:
Derickxs vs Hawthorn
2k, 2H, 2M, 6T, 24HO - 65AF
Hampson vs Geelong
1K, 8H, 1M, 0T, 37HO - 60AF

Not saying Tom is better BUT we could have kept poor Tom, also kept a small but tidy truckload of cash and had another junior. To whit George Hewett, assuming we'd taken Carlton's No. 32 choice and not cherry-picked Collingwood's No. 65 choice of Tom Langdon or Kennedy-Harris who went at 40 for example.

I'm just not seeing the value in our choice here. Am I not looking hard enough?

We rushed and panicked.
There was other options. Hampson is shocking

Probably the worst recruit from another club that I can think of over the past 20 years. Right up there with Mitch Farmer; Stevan Jackson; Todd Breman etc. Certainly the worst mark I've ever seen.

I would have thought waiting until hammer and Ivan actually play in the same team and share the workload would be a good idea .Drawing conclusions on hammers career at the tige's after 7 games is laughable .Thankfully our coaching and recruiting staff have a little more patience Ben Griffith is a good case of showing patience .If

Can't mark,
you can't even call him butter fingers, he doesn't go to close.
How do you get a game when you can't do one of the most important things in the game???
It's like being in a water polo team, but you can't swim.
Only Richmond

Mr.Derrikx seems to be going ok at Sydney.

It's not just his seven game Tigers career people are thinking about, why compare him to Griff.
Hamster is 25 / 26 years old and has been in the system long enough to be in his peak years. A handfull of hit outs per game and stuff all other input into the game is pretty poor from a bloke who has been thrown the career life line.
What's the Hamster actually going to be doing when the Eevan returns besides part time tap ruck? So far he's shown a hell of a lot less around the ground than a 22 year old Griffinator.
From my perspective, once Eevan is fit we'd be better off with Griff as his support ruck.

McMahon x2, we did it again.....

We always do it.
We should be bringing in kids by the truck load, but guaranteed every year we waste a pick on recycled dud and "pass" on useful late picks.
And don't start me on our rookie selections

So Maric rucking. Where do you put Jack and Ty?

In hindsight I think pick 32 was too much for this guy. Has to improve

To be perfectly honest I don't think we would have lost out on all that much if we'd left Hampson at Carlton and played Stephenson to fill Maric's boots so far this year. If we'd drafted another young project ruckman (Darcy Cameron?) with a rookie pick... sorted. And with another draft pick to add talent.

I know our guys made it pretty well known they didn't rate the draft pool last year but clubs like Collingwood and Geelong show time and time again that there's talent to be found in the later rounds of weak drafts if you look hard enough.

Enjoying this thread. We have a bye but because Tux please his best AFL games to date, the hamster had gotten a hell of a lot worse without playing a game.

Right now, even at 85kg, Jack is the best high mark at the club IMO, DDT. He has to get the softer job of cherry picking, lurking, roving. And he has that job. He has *smile* all cover.

Vickery? I don't believe I've ever seen him make an honest contest at an aerial mark. He could be a god off the park - I wouldn't know. But he is a man of low football character.

Ivan is a man of the highest football character. Getting air? I-vahn can't jump. He occupies space, a sphere of influence but it's a low one. And at ground level that's an advantage.

The debilitated Ivan got massacred at the CB taps by Warnock in that EF. Our man could not get air. Less than usual. But no air.

My original point was not well expressed. If you kicked a long bomb to a pack of Hampson, Elton, Griffiths, Jack and Vickery - Vickery would push Jack in the back and lurk; Elton might mark it, despite the air of the other two. Griffiths might vault the pack and take a chest mark. Hampson would usually get more air and get in the way.

Ivan would hold the space around him and smart athletes would sag off and run at the air ball, leaving him well under the catch or spoil.

Im gonna file that under 'anomalous'.
