Is there a reason to keep any of Orren S or Tom D now that Hampson has been drafted? Looks like Tigers to delist both, and then look for a junior to develop either as a late draft pick or in the rookie draft.

Thoughts?

Sure Hampson didn't set he world on fire at the blues, but we need to ask how he'll fit in to our structures.

An athletic big man often burnt by the run and carry of the Carlton midfield. For us he could be an athletic big man easy to spot up with precise passes or a long get out kick.

Blair and co are consummate professionals. Hampson has size and can run and jump. They obviously think he is a good fit with our kick and push gameplan.

One thing for sure : we went after him like he was exactly what we needed.

Let me explain. Hawks who just won a premiership are going after a young ruckman that is highly rated. We on the other hand rushed into giving up our 2nd round pick for a dud of the highest order.

:rofl Highly rated. So far he ain't shown sh!t. Will probably be good in three years. When our window is closed. Good plan genius.
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl
Window closed in 3 years. Hahahaha. Oh man. You are a funny bugger. So I take it you expect to win the flag in the next 2 years? At least think before you try and say something smart. You are a bright one. :rofl :rofl

Looks like it Ruby. Maybe those that watch the kid's may know of a promising young ruck we could get late in the draft.

Hampson does have more AFL experience and age over the Big 'O' so it does seem a logical move to me. Todd Elton is supposed to be an up and coming ruck so I suppose the Big 'O' along with Tom D will get the DCM.

Dan Richardson said on SEN tonight that Big O will definitely be staying as a mature age rookie. No mention of Derrickx. You'd think he would be delisted; he's not even close to AFL standard.

We have done this since Blair come on board. Identify the need, pick the best player to suit the need and then offer something fair and reasonable to get the job done.

PS Take note Essendon!

Dan Richardson said on SEN that Hartley identified Hampson as what we needed half way through and planned it accordingly from there.

Makes sense. Has been useful as a backup. Hopefully Maric can stay fit next year, and Orren becomes a member of the Tiger Reserves 2014 premiership team. :)

Sounds good Riddles. Looks like they did the homework. Shame we couldn't stooge Cartoon with another Grigg/Collins trade though. ;D

Good to hear Orro staying with us for another season at least.

Get behnind Shaun "Hammer" Hampson. We lost Pia when Brad retired in 2012. We now have Megan.... :p

No doubt they did their homework. Whether they did it well or not remains to be seen. I don't rate Hampson at all; built like Tarzan plays like Jane. Pick 28 is massive overs IMHO but then again I wouldn't have gone there at all.

Hopefully it works out but I don't like the trade.

Shank & Nahas to anyone for 2nd round pick. ;D

I am surprised we parted with a 2nd rounder but lets judge at the end of the trade period and in the future.

I get so tired of the constant ratings of the "experts" who think its a game of supercoach.

Is it March yet?

SO because I and some others have an opinion that is not all rosey and following the club line we are "experts" what if we are right are we allowed to come back and demand those who are wrong face up and admit it as no doubt we will be called upon to do so if he is a success.

Maybe in future we should all just say the club is doing a wonderful job and not have a differing opinion. ::)

Welcome Shaun and we hope you have a great career ( well some of us) at the mighty RFC.
The usual suspects are out and about poo pooing your recruitment but hey everyone's a bonafide recruiter
around these parts, that's what makes PRE such an enjoyable read. ;D
