I think Soldo is more the answer. We need to get early season games into him and or the best of Moore or Chol. No disrespect to Shaun but we cannot rely on his body. So we should be looking to the future. Shaun can be the player that comes in and gives Nank a rest for 1 or 2 games during the year.

100% should be Hampsons last year as a Richmond football player - Thank god

I can’t see him playing past this year. His body is too injury prone. And he lacks the mobility to give us a option when the ball hits the ground.

He looked ok come finals in the VFL last year. Not that Im rushing him into the starting senior 22 soon but if Nank goes down its good to know we have a big man ready to go. Now listed out AGAIN with is back!!!!

What will inevitably be his last year on the list I still want him to stand up and contribute and ensure we have coverage should be be called upon.

I hope it dose not take 20 rounds to get his body in playing condition. Backs can be tricky, just hope he gets out on the park soon.

If this bloke was a car the insurance company would have declared him a statutory write off 5 years ago and would have given the owner 30% of market value due to being below market standard.

I just wish he would just retire and save the anguish for all tiger supporters

Didn't know you spoke for 'all tiger supporters'? Self-appointed? Or did I miss that election?

If Hampson can't get his back right, you'll probably get your wish. But, oh great self-appointed spokesperson for all tiger supporters, just let us know who is ready to step up as Nank's natural replacement if disaster struck, and he suffered an injury early in 2017? Who is ready?

No doubt you know far better than the list managers. They must have some weird ideas retaining the Hammer; maybe they even picked him, then watched him play very well in our VFL finals?!

Played well in the VFL finals? Beer goggles strikes again.
Not only dropped the easiest chest mark in the history of football in the last quarter of the GF, the clumsy oaf paddled it straight to the Port player who looked like a kid collecting Easter eggs.
Started their momentum charge and the rest is history.
We now have options. Soldo, Chol. Thank god

Talk of 'beer goggles'! One awful mistake (can barely remember it myself) doesn't negate everything a player does for the rest of that game or others. All players can make them; they're human just like you ... but, of course, you never have! Why don't you equally blame Ben Lennon for not kicking the winning goal post-siren or very player who kicked a behind, or turned the ball over? Did you know who commits some of the worst and most common clangers in our AFL side? [He just happens to make up for it a lot more].

I am hopeful of Soldo and Chol making vital further progress in 2018. But, IMO, neither would really cope well at all as an AFL first ruck ATM, going up against a Gawn, Jacobs or Ryder. They would really struggle; Soldo still doubtful he has the tank to keep up for a full game and lacks speed too; Chol still too young and raw would be beaten for strength and aggression although a good athlete.

Anyway, as I keep saying, if Hammer cannot get his back right for a 2nd straight season, and it sounds more unlikely at his age being 202 cm, his time must be up. But we are already a big man down with Griffiths going.

Afterthought: go back and look at how Nank failed to gather and secure the ball in the away loss to GWS in '17, allowing Cameron to collect it, run away and kick the winning goal, steal the game!

Respect your arguments but please don't compare Nankervis failing to collect an awkwardly bouncing oval ball ( and the fact that Cameron cleverly pushed him off his line) to Hampson dropping an absolute soda. Lucky it wasn't a watermelon. All players make mistakes like Kamdyn dropping a similar chest mark against Nth last week, however the difference was he was good enough to recover. Hampson dropped it and actually paddled it out in front to the opposition player without making a contest.
As for Lennon. A game of inches. He kicks it and he's a hero. He certainly wasnt a villain

Bigger men take longer to develop.

He'll come good.

:hihi

Seriously don't know how the hell he's lasted 11 seasons at the elite level - 12 seasons this year. Built like a brick sh!thouse, hands like buckets, couldn't catch an STD in a Thai knock shop.

It was a mistake to trade for him, but nearly everyone here at the time would agree with that.

Cant win them all.

Despite his tap work (which is good) he's still a massive guy who doesnt like contact, and that isn't changing.

OK lets play Leon !

Where in my Post did i say "WE' Or the Richmond football club ? If you have another read before going on your monthly sick day you will clearly see that i wrote 'I'

And in answering your question about who would take over if Nank got Injured i can assure you that it wont be Hampson as this Spud has and always will be a liability and has been injured for more games than he has been available for in his entire Career

I hold more hope of Higgins rucking this year than Hampson as i can assure you Hampson has and will always be just a Drain on any team he represents

Now after all this - I need a drink

I’m not prepared to make any big calls, after what Townsend and Broad pulled off last year.
Those two guy's wanted it badly and trained hard to reach the pinnacle. Hampson injury prone body has let him down along with his limited ability around the ground so I feel it unlikely that he would be able to play at AFL level for us when we have smaller, fitter and more agile options available to us.

This was your exact sentence: "I just wish he would just retire and save the anguish for all tiger supporters"

So you claim/pretend to speak for all TS? Right.
The rest of your post is rendered meaningless with excessive use of silly hyperbole. I know your're a dedicated supporter, Turk, but credible discussion points may not be your strength. Besides, I love spuds. You can cook them so many ways and very nourishing.

Anyway, I'll await Higgins being the back-up ruck if Nank goes down.

Sure you hadn't had that drink before this post?

PS - Will Higgins do this before he shows how he is so much smarter than Butler before summarily taking his SF spot, or after he replaces Nank's as first ruck. Or will he play both, like knock it down to himself when rucking up forward; before tackling, gathering and kicking numerous goals. Either way, this will be no Drain. What an exciting year we are in for!

Another big fan of Higgo and Turk's opinions?

Not sure what you have been watching. Ruck work is all about fierce contact: continuously, unavoidably. You need to observe one, preferably live game, to realise that.

I’d love to know how many games Hampy has missed with injury so far in his career 2007-2017.

He’s played 98 out of a possible 250 ish AFL games.
