People seem to expect superstars whether it be trading or draft picks. The fact is its impossible for them all to be superstars and you need to look at needs, potential and facts.

I think people's main gripe is that we've had so many freebies lately that anything else feels like robbery. When one considers Houli, Grigg, Chaplin, Morris, Petterd & Knights all came to the club at minimal cost, one is left scratching their head as to why we are deviating from a tried and trusted model.

Obviously circumstances are different and we are in desperate need of a ruckman, I just hope that he remains fit and healthy and contributes more than he did at Carlton.

If we win the flag and Hampson doesn't play wouldn't that be a tie? Waste of a pick with no young player coming through but a flag so yeah tie.

Would be no manure trucks left to get if it is a bust.

Take a deep breath, You're carrying on as if we've given up our first round for Jordan Russell.

I recall plenty having the same reaction when we picked up Maric, swapped out Collins for Grigg/Houli etc..
Let's just wait and see before calling Blair an idiot again. His track record is admirable and deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Welcome Shaun.

Yep. I reckon Hampo will be better than expected......it's just that 2nd round pick that worries me a bit.

Good to get a back up for Ivan. We desperately needed one.

A Everitt would've been a good target for a young ruck too.

I reckon Ivan Maric would be wrapped with this trade, hopefully now he doesn't have to spend 89.1% of time on the ground for the year, maybe he can spend 82% of time on the ground ( which is the league ave for 1st and 2nd choice ruckmen ) and be more fresher late in games and the season instead of being spent and not giving our mids first use of the ball.

Maybe but I will put my money where my mouth is. If this turns out to be a bust at the end of next season then I will not be renewing any of our familys memberships but if it is succesful I will buy another one.

A little bit extreme don't you think.
It's only ONE trade amongst the many & varied positive moves the club has made & is making.

Come down to the Richmond football club,
Can't kick, can't tackle, can't mark.. Your perfect!!
+ will pay you a small fortune

It's a joke, Blair Hartley throws away pick 28 like it's worthless on a dud and a hack. No doubt the list mangler Terry Wallace would heartily approves. Blue supporters are laughing their heads off and I don't blame them. Again pathetic.

If he takes a mark in any game at any time he would have contributed more than he did at Carlton ;)

Useless player who struggled to get a game at his previous club simply because he wasn't good enough. I know Ivan and Grigg and Houli two of those were required and the other just had better players ahead of him Hampson also has better players ahead of him but Ivan had at least shown he was capable of holding his spot before something Hampson has not done.

I have already said somewhere or other that it feels like topping up and we are not in a position to top up and waste picks if it flops then in my opinion we have just turned around and returned to the wonderful top up days.

I don't think they've deviated from the model too far. Hampson was a first round pick (maybe early second round - No. 17 in 2006). He has been underused at Carlton - just like Maric was at Adelaide - and may not have had the opportunities to develop.

But I agree with your second point - I think the circumstances you refer to are Maric's groins. I think he's a 50/50 prospect going forward - and if you're serious about sustaining a finals presence you need to be solid in the ruck. Hampson can give us solid in the ruck. And hopefully more. Not the worst trade.

How old are you BT? Have you been in the habit of membership boycotts on the basis of individual players not being successful? Even given your distorted opinion of Hampson, which I disagree with obviously, its nothing on the ricter scale of dumb richmond trades, wouldn't even register.

I'm laughing my head at this post, well grinning at least.

I was interested to read the actual data posted on his hitout stats, thats and watching the footage of his ruck work was pleasant surprise to me, don't watch Carlton much but only ever noticed his presence in the fwd line.

No apparently he agrees with you that pick 28 is too high.
Geez the company some people keep. ;)

What are you going to do when he marks and goals? Boo him?
He's a Tiger now, why would you wish him to fail?

Who are all these Blue supporters laughing their heads off?
My wife and her brothers all mad Blues and all think he'll be ok as a 2nd ruckman.
But they obviously wouldn't be as well informed as you.

My blooming flatmate is a scum supporter and I can tell you right now, he has been laughing since he heard what we traded him for.

And no, I do not hope Shaun fails. He is now a Tiger. I just have to deal with my demons >:D

Topping up? We took the second or third most juniors in last years draft. If you are going to have an opinion at least make sure it is an informed one.

Just laugh back at him next year when the whole Daisy thing turns to *smile*!
Hey I used to bag Hampson too but I've taken a deep breath, exhaled and now support him as a Tiger!
