Grundy is the AFL's form ruck ATM. Hammer definitely got on top.

Grundy, Gawn, Goldstein (we need a ruck who starts with G!), Jacobs, NicNat, Tippet, Martin, Mumford, McEvoy, Smith. good rucks off the top of my head.

this year has been a bit of a golden year for rucks. in previous years Hampson woud be rated ok against the majority running around, but suddenly most clubs have athletic coordinated talls who can impact around the ground. unfortunately we dont.

I watched qrts 1,2 & 4 on the replay and to say this guy played anything remotely AFL quality is nonsense. Statless in qrts 1 & 2.

Dropped at least 3 mark able grabs. Gave away 4 free kicks. His tap work whilst prolific is simplistic, he just tries and gets first hand to the ball, where it goes is immaterial. I countered 5 HOTD in these 3 qrts to counter his 7 HOTA.

Yes he touched one on the goal line excellent but bar set low and all that jazz.

33 hitouts. 7 to advantage 17 to disadvantage.

Beggars belief what some are seeing our there.

So effectively we playing 5 - 3 down at centre clearances and then it gets worse for Hammer.

The guy tries and has improved out of sight since the beginning of the season but is not the future. He taps to the opposition far too often and his work around the ground is not inspiring confidence. His marking has improved as has his positional sense around the ground but still offering up far too many glaring mistakes.
However, he is all we have in the ruck stocks ATM so will continue to get games until we get a good ruckman hopefully during the draft period

Surely Hampson misses. You cant tap it to the opposition all night, give away four frees and a fifty and do sweet FA otherwise and get rewarded can you?

Hey, this is Richmond. He's the "best we have" so its all systems go for Hampy. People raving about the improved efforts from Hampy.

For season 2016 he's statistically producing virtually the same as his career ave ( bar HO)

Amazing vision last night on Footy Classified.
They commented about Gawn and Viney having a special thing in tapouts.
They showed Gawn palming onto Viney's hands in heavy traffic. Just incredibly precise taps with Viney at almost full pace through stoppages.
Also showed Gawn taking BIG pack marks both forward and back. Ouch. Were we really thinking about him a couple of years ago?

Yep, we were looking at him.

Grundy gets a vote from a coach

Hampson is unfortunately just a very poor footballer who can jump.

He should not be in the side. The season is over. It is irrelevant that he can get hit outs. Even if he could hit it to us, it would still be irrelevant. And he can't hit it to us.

Play Griff or Vickery as number one ruck AND DONT EVEN WORRY IF HE GETS KILLED. It can't be worse than Hampson. Who is essentially a second ruckman for the opposition. If he wins tap outs we're worse off than when he doesn't. And if he doesn't win tap outs, we're a player short in the centre, as he has no legspeed, tackling, handballing ability or ability to get the ball.

Yeah but apart from that he's okay.
