I understand us re-signing him but 2 years?

God I hope we land a decent no.1 ruck in the off season. In the real world Hampy is your insurance to your insurance ie no.3 ruck, not no.1.

Smith is a cymbal hands too. But I'd have taken him at Richmond in a heartbeat. FWIW that's all you need for a first ruck IMO.

But our cymbal hands has improved out of sight and it'll be interesting to see how they go head to head. It will be a mediocre struggle.

Has he improved? Don't think so. Stats back this up unless you're looking at hitouts which is just the result of more game time as first ruck and they go more to the opposition and the ground than to our players.

Last season we averaged 36 clearances a game, this year 35. When I compared a couple months ago it was about even bit still funny considering Hardwick was claiming Hampson was giving us ruck "dominance". So now we've officially gone backwards in the middle despite a huge uptick in hitouts. Facts are not supporting this propoganda the clubs been spinning.

2 year contract? Only at Richmond.

Rather bring back graham

Short memory.

Good 2nd ruck, on the improvement trajectory of this year, could still be a handy first ruck

Please explain how Zac Smith is better than Hampson
Around the ground Smith absolutely flogs Hampson. Younger, more agile, kicks more goals etc. Geelong dont get it wrong!

flogs is a bit much

Not a huge fan of Hampson, but not sure that Smith is an upgrade overall

Sorry I meant to post about list management decisions and my reactions to them.

I like free verse, this is some of your better work Lamby

I think everyone agrees Ivan is shot. and even if the club recruits a ready-made ruckman, we will still need a backup. like it or not, hammer is an absolute certainty to be retained next year. you can put your house on it.

...

It is a hard sell as Zac's numbers are only so so, but he is an athletic beast, far better than Hammer. My sons basketball coach at rep level was involved with Zac and was a massive rap for him in terms of attitude, skill, athleticism.

Has better hands than Hammer.

Kicking, coympetitveness, tap skills about even I would say.

2 years? lol, what are we worried his form will explode and we'll have to pay him substantially more the next year? Why do we always over extend the contracts of players like this?

We had to quickly re-sign him to 2 years, there was a conga line of clubs just thrusting juicy contracts Hampys way ....

reads like Nick Cave writing about Shaun Hampson. Except Nick Cave wouldve severed an artery.
