Whoah, you don't get it.

Ignore hit outs for a second.
Goldstein >>>>>>>>>>>> Hampson.

In every facet of the game.

Now remember hit outs. Goldstein > Hampson, but essentially irrelevant as they both provide a contest.

A ruckman needs to make a contest. And it's critical that they be able to play.

Tick, tick Goldstein.
Tick, epic cross Hampson.

Points off if they continually hit it to the opposition.

So Coburg/Lamby, whoever you are, thought you might be interested in stats from today's matches since Goldstein is so superior 'In every facet of the game.'

Goldstein [v PA/Trengove] = ONLY 2 Ks, 10 HBs, 30 HHOs, 2 Ms, 4 Ts, 0 Scores, AF - 81

Hampson [v Ess/Leuenberger] = 6 Ks, 5 HBs, 40 HOs, 3 Ms, 4 Ts, 1G, AF - 98.

At least Leuenberger is a genuine ruckman, unlike Trengove who is a 197cm back who has had to play ruck due to the loss of PA's main men. His AF was 74, Trengove's was 88. Hence Trengove is rated as beating your ruck supremo, while Hampson has beaten a quality ruckman by far more.

Your combined eggspertise on ruck-play is being exposed for a crock of poo week by week.

Meanwhile, the trans-formative Messiah had 0 hitouts, 1 less than last week.

Guy is really improving every week, would be a good back up ruckman for a decent a grader.

That being said, ruckmen are kind of overrated in a way, as long as the midfield does its job, you dont nessecarily need a star ruckman. Hawks don't have the best ruck stocks and look at them. Bulldogs have done rather well without any real ruckman as well.

Then look at the likes of North who rely on Goldy to dominate.

Not sure if serious? Are you really suggesting Hampson is better than Goldstein?

A good game against a weak and small team, hope he keeps improving though... Agree with everyone he taps it to the Opp far to often or our mids are doing something wrong

Have I ever stated that? If you think I even implied it you would have misconstrued. It was a pointed response to Coburg's recent boast of how Goldsten is so superior in every facet. Apparently not!

It's more your abject refusal to admit the evidence before your eyes, week after week, stat upon stat. You refuse to admit Hampson is a very useful ruckman who is improving his game still, match by match - see the goal he took from a throw-in today, because you would rather be in denial about admitting you're wrong, than ever simply accept that he has been a real positive for our team in 2016 (given the decline of Eevan).

What possible aspect of the game can Hampson be better than Goldstein at? Falling over inelegantly?

Typical. No credible response to the factual material placed in front of your nose, just limp evasion of the substantive issue, with a swipe of puerile sarcasm.

You are simply deluded. On all the evidence available, Hampson absolutely played a much better game in his match that the 'vaunted-one' played in his against a CHB. But just stick to ranting on the McBean thread, it needs your desperate attention. I think a case of massive deflation may be occurring.

When are you going to trot out again how Griffiths was "gifted" all those games when the stick-insect was neglected and persecuted by cruel fate?

This indicates to me we are getting beaten in general play and effective ball-use. I'm not saying his HOs could not be better directed. The whole midfield function needs to capitalise on HOs far more efficiently. I think we need another A-grader.

Certainly can't argue on that point but IMO we also need a top ruck come drafting

That goal he kicked was unreal. Very funny and very surprising it was great to see.

Sorry, what's your point Leon? If you're not saying Hampson is better than (or equal to) Goldstein? Taking 1 game in isolation to prove what?

Now next to Lamby I'm Hampys biggest critic but I have conceded he's improved (not hard really) but I hope to God the RFC don't rest on their laurels and say "well, he,ll do for 2017"

Leon, as much as you spew lyrical, I think it says a lot that you are so impressed when Hampson had an 11 disposal, 3 mark , 1 goal game.

The bar is set so low an undersized contortionist jellyfish couldn't get under it.

Hampson actually had a good game. For him. It was probably his best game for the year.

He's not the answer going forward. We need another solution. If we were brave enough, we'd have trialled Griff /Vickery as rucks. If you believe we've seen an improvement in Hampson, through a year of support, imagine what we would have seen in that pair.

And I maintain that Goldstein is better than Hampson in every single facet of the game, and defy you to argue with a straight face that he isn't.

That one single game of stats is nonsense, particularly if you're going to lash out at McBean at the same time, because :

Hampson : 11 disposals, 3 marks, 6 kicks 5 handballs
McBean: 12 disposals, 6 marks, 8 kicks, 3 handballs.

I won't even bother to point out time in ground, or games played, or age.

It's completely meaningless to cherry pick stats from a single game.

Here's a more balanced comparison between Goldy and Hampy, season 2016:

And by career:

I'd say it was Hampson's best game for the year. Nice of you to admit it; showing some awareness at last. He clearly won the ruck contest against his much higher rated opponent. Check out Player Ratings for rucks - Leuenberger rated at 181, Hammer only 125. Unlike Goldstein, whom all the pundits rated as being beaten by Trengove. Goldy rated No.2 on ~592 pts; Trengove doesn't even appear on the ruck ratings! So the peerless ruck beaten by this.

So far I have just had to explain my previous post to you. Further, if Goldy is so much better, how could this happen? Where have all his indisputably superior (by your and Lamby's expert judgement) facets gone to? I would never claim Hammer is a better player, nor have. It was simply being proven to you that you and the haters gang over-rate the gap between H and G. You rave on about wonderful opposition players are on PRE, revelling in cheap-shot sarcasm and hilarious insults, disparage our players unmercifully. Go and review the threads for Hampson and Griffiths to remind yourself.

Thanks for the statistical comparisons. They, surprisingly to me, actually support my consistent viewpoint. Hammer is closer than even I thought. Clearly G has been a superior player, but the gap is less than I expected. The evidence is definitely that it is coming down this year too. On Player Ratings G has dropped sharply in 2016 (but you've missed that?), H's is on another sharply upward spike. So appreciate the support there. Remember Lamby saying how he really rated PRs earlier this year!

Re disposals, clearly H is getting more ball and doing more with it. Improved HBs and CMs. He will never be a high Ds player, must get the ball off to others quickly. He is obviously coached to do this too; I have pointed out his smart HBs to Dusty et al before. I think Vickery has been trialed and found wanting as a ruck, but you've just missed all that! Amazing - ostrich-like; have you looked at his ruck-work (against Nicnat was a highlight!); looked at his thread? Not in the team, to the great relief of those on PRE. But you're still singing his praises as a ruckman? I have already covered the Griffiths point so many times; you keep missing it, obviously wasted on you. This game proved it again, you've still missed it. (Maybe try following some threads a lot more).

As for Bean, I stand by my comments on him - go check them out. He needs probably another two years to develop; a project player. He can barely compete with the serious rucks and big defenders of the AFL with that stick-like body, but like his skills. Reluctant to criticise him; however, when posters call for dropping H to instead play Griff and Bean as our rucks, it is so laughable I have to respond. They propose this, it deserves response.

My contention about Hampson has been totally consistent. We have none better for now; he has put in a very strong year; is mostly valuable for HOs, showing a lot of improvement. Try celebrating this, the positive, instead of reveling in slagging him continually. These are born out by trends over the year; not just one game. See above. As I keep saying, the haters also hate to admit they're wrong.

Thanks for the compliment about my lyrical spew. Thought 'undersized contortionist jellyfish' was a good attempt, but still erred more on the side of spew than lyrics. But keep trying.
