1. couldnt disagree more. I reckon every st.kilda fan would disagree too. We all view the world and the game differently, but I firmly believe ruckmen win finals.

2. Agree a fair bit. I reckon Cholita could develop into a very fast, agile and snakey ruckman.

Hawthorn say hello!

Gawn couldn't get a game with Melbourne a couple of years ago and now look at his form. I am not suggesting that Hampson will do a Gawn but he's improving aspects of his game where he had glaring weaknesses i.e inability to hold a mark or kick a goal. So whilst he's not yet a Gawn he's not gone either.

Difference would be that Hampson is 28 whilst Gawn is 24.

He's playing OK, and lets be honest, that's the best we could hope for.
Very short interim for Maric's replacement.

We need a decent ruck, and we need it now.

Does Hammer get a one or two-year extension? I'd prefer one but there may be suitors if he don't offer two and, sadly, we need him in '17.

Also Hampson is Hampson and Gawn is Gawn.
Indeed. If anyone can direct me to the instance when Hampy got 27 disposals and 3 goals....and I mean in one GAME not one SEASON I'd appreciate it.

Per game or annually?

He has probably kicked 3 goals in total in his time with us.

He is what he is. Gets lots of hit outs, but doesnt do a lot more once the ball hits the deck. Occasionally may have games where he gets involved a bit, but even then it is well short of what the elite ruckmen provide. Has been better than I expected at times this season, but I have set a very low standard for him - when he takes a contested mark it is still a massive surprise to me. Short term option only would be my bet.

Just an update on hitouts and clearances.

On Sunday Hammer got 23 HOTA and 16 HOTD with 4 halved.

When Hammer rucked (irrespective of who won hitouts) GC got 27 clearances, we got 25 and 15 were drawn.

It is interesting keeping these stats because Hampson appears an unusual ruckman. He often hits very wide to space which results in a lot of clear takeaways one way or the other. Most ruckman have softer hands and hit closer to where they ruck.

That's probably why he has high HOTA stats but I'd bet he'd probably be one of the highest HOTD ruckmen as well.

Anyway we rarely win clearances with him playing so I really dont know why he gets a game as he cant play football otherwise.

PS Griff's figures 3 HOTA, 3 HOTD 4 halved

When he rucked Us 4 clearances, them 5 clearances 4 drawn.

Yes, he's kicked 3 goals in his career with RFC to date.

I concur with the rest of your post. We HAVE to do better than Hampy in 2017.

I asked CD about HOTD (or hitouts sharked) and they said its up to the Hun if they want to put them in their published stats sheet. I asked the Hun about it but no response.

I reckon it'd shut up a lot of people that waffle about HOTA when they saw that just as many went HOTD.

Growing confidence and accompanying self belief has no bounds, maybe the ceiling on Hammer has to be lifted
