Nah the only people who obsess over Dimma's public pronouncements are the Moan Drones. Everyone else takes them for what they are - pressers with a bit of tyre pumping that means nowt.

Wait a minute. So the coach may say something different to Morris and vickery behind closed doors to what he says in a presser?

Intriguing concept. I guess there could be something in that.

No idea what he says privately to players. Because it's private .

It's amusing that those that give Dimma the least credit hang on his every word.

Hammer to do the grunt work season proper and unleash a fresh Ivvy late in the year ?

Ivvy still has some advantages over Hampson, definitely, and his form in the VFL seems on the up. The big question is whether he can just keep up any more; the limited leg-speed he had seems to have disappeared more, and his leap similarly ( what little he had). Troublesome back probably.

If only we could produce a hybrid of the two combining their individual merits - we'd have a near No. 1 ruck! [Not suggesting anything strange here BTW]

Edit: this post has created some weird realisations in my mind. How many games has Hampo played? We have to get him to 100. My mind just drifted onto Megan. She's an Amazon. Not sure of her sporting prowess, but the future Hamsters just might be athletic freaks/giants.

Needs to play 100 for Richmond for father/son to be an issue. He's played less than 30 so far, in 2 1/2 seasons. He'd have to play for 7 more years for this to be a reality.

A bitter reality pill to curb my over-excitement!
I try to be positive about the big H, hard as it is, but sure know anyone suggesting he has another 7 years left needs serious medical intervention.

However, just remembered there was some talk around AFL circles of lowering the F/S qualification. All may not be lost. In the meantime, sure big H needs little encouragement, IYKWIM.

I hearwhat you say about Maric's leg speed but if you watch Hamspon he is even slower around the ground

Not sure who would win a sprint, but certainly no danger to Usain Bolt. Hampo might have a longer stride and just beat him; he has a good tank too. If you went right back and found H's draft camp results, he could actually run a good 3k trial.

He certainly has Ivan covered for leap at present. However, Maric is a better and smarter overall footballer. Maybe much of a muchness with their current status.

So think it comes down to who reads the hit-outs best and wins the 'takeaways'. ATM, cannot see how we are any better positioned to win the clearances more than in the EF, apart from Jacobs missing plus Cotch and Dusty in top form. Some hope perhaps.

Hamster's fit now n taken over the number one ruck mantle. No logical reason why he can't play seventy games in the next three n a half seasons. All the little Hamsters neatly lined up n signed in half the time anticipated.

The logical reason for that not to happen is we we need a ruck with skill and speed around the ground not a limited tap ruckman

Ssssshhhh! He's working on it UK, by the time he gets a hundred games up for us n we get to father son all his little Hamsters. He might nearly have got all the other bits beside tap work lined up n functioning.

Nice puff piece on Hampson in today's HUN where Hampy claims that the removal of the sub has been the catalyst to his form.

Says he wins 50% of all HO and 14.4% HOTA (I think they meant 14.4 of ALL HO, not just the ones he wins where goes at about 30%)

Yeah, Dimmas support of his players is admirable but there's some pocket p!ssing going on when talks about Ty, Morris and in this case, Hampy.

Unfortunately it's catchy as I read HS today and Cotchin is quoted as saying Hampson is having a great year too. I know you have to back your players but surely it's better to say nothing than to lie about it?

Some stats for Hampy 2016:

Ave 7.4 disposals a game. Career ave is 8
Ave 1.9 marks. Career ave is 2.6
Ave 1 contested Mark. Career ave 1.2
Ave 0.1 goals. Career ave is 0.4
Ave 0.3 behinds. Career ave is 0.4
Ave 1.6 tackles. Career ave is 1.6
Ave 29 HO. Career ave is 18.9
Ave 1.9 frees against. Career ave is 1.1
Ave 1.9 frees for. Career ave is 1.1
Ave 70.1% Disposal efficiency. Career is 67.8%
Ave 1.4 centre clearance. Career 1.4.
Ave .3 marks I50. Career ave .95
Ave Inside 50 .7. Career ave 1.2
Ave clangers 2.7. Career ave 1.9

So the only areas he's above career ave is HO (from 18.9 to 29) and DE from 67.8% to 70.1%....oh, and clangers.....from 1.9 up to 2.7....

Zac Smith's numbers for this year. NB three games markless. Two games he took only one. Rhys Stanley is injured so Smith will be promoted to #1 ruck. Smith is probably the best example of an adequate dud ruck. He's either that or an inadequate one. He makes for an interesting benchmark.
