That's a good post, Zips. I agree with you. A lot for Hurley, in the context of what some of our existing A-graders (like even Rance) are on, but it will take something near that to tear him away from the Dopers. Neale or maybe Prestia would complete our midfield and I hope that we are then well within sight of top 4 at least.

Noted that someone on one footy show Monday night claimed mail that Prestia almost definitely won't be at GC next year, so whose into him? (Haven't had a chance to look at Rumours)

Hurley is very very gettable. He isn't training with the suspended Essendon group. He has apprantly stopped talks with Essendon.
The only club really driving to get Neale is the crows. I'm not sure how we can convince him to move away from going back home.
But money talks. Let's see

Dont know about Hurley at $900K over 6 years. Will be 27 years old this time next year. Will have missed a whole season. It's not that easy to come back strong particularly if you're not training at AFL level.

Lachie Neale or Prestia, yes please.

Yes, but Chaplin must be in his final year so we will need another KPD. It hinges on how young CMoore develops; maybe we can bring him on and do without Hurley and the huge financial impost. Love the glimpses of CM so far (but might be a forward or mid too). Then there's the mystery man - Elton!!??

Our full-strength backline wouldn't be too bad even without Hurley perhaps? If our youngsters come on like expected.

Anyway, on the wrong thread, so: Go the Hamster!

He is doing ok,or even a little better, but far better than I thought he was capable of.

When he was finally fit last year his game against Carlton was excellent. He's showed the odd sign of possibly being a good player previously or we wouldn't have recruited him but just hasn't put it together consistently much at all.
If he can then that is a good thing. IF.
That's his challenge. History has the skeptics saying no.

Showing some consistency this year, hopefully can stay on the park. Starting to clunk a few contested marks, just like to see him scoring the odd goal here and there. Needs to work on goal kicking efficiency.

His kicking is like my 3 Wood. I don't care if I miss the green I just want good contact.

Can't see Hampson being a premiership ruckman, but am appreciating his recent endeavour and efforts, even if still somewhat clunky and clumsy.
It is, nevertheless, a little disconcerting that Hampson is now #1 ruckman before Maric. Says something about the thin ruck stocks at RFC.

Only a matter of games before his stick legs break down again.

Well, he has had operations on both ankles.
What do you suggest next?
Two leg transplants?

Thought injuries often happen in AFL - not sure it says anything about a footballer's ability to play, when fit. Often just bad luck.

See Royce Hart's latter years. Could play a bit.

add Roach to that too who was nursed to a milestone. Hogg as well

Hampsons no Hart. Limited footballers must be durable which Hampson aint.

You know I never said, or would say, he was in the same breath as Hart. But Royce never played ruck either.
So what's your point? Hampson's injury prone?

Ruck is the toughest, most physically demanding and exhausting position to play. It's a huge grind against the other biggest, heaviest beasts out there over the longest duration and on the biggest field of any football code, played at breakneck speed.

Not surprisingly, injuries often occur. Sandilands, Kreuzer, Phillips, Casboult, Mackay, Andrews, Gault, McKernan, Clark, Lobbe and Boyd some of the rucks out injured ATM.

So are you saying this because if he should happen to get injured again, it must be his fault? And you told us so beforehand?

Maybe, when you're on a good thing ... just enjoy it.

Good to see him up and about. No doubt his confidence has taken a battering in recent years playing second fidle to Ivan but his ruckwork is just great to watch. Very very good exponent of a tap ruck. Hitting the age most Rucks mature.

Absolutely shocking. 8 disposals,6 clangers including 4 frees against, a 50metre pnealty, ZERO marks, disposal efficiency 50%, 1 tackle. And this kis rucking against a 33yo. Not to mention even though he had many more hitouts we were smashed in clearances 31 to 42. The absolute opposite of a complete game.
