Miles's renaissance has but one architect - Hampster is his name.

I don't mind the praise - Hampson has improved from a very low bar the last week or two. Below average from liability and this week solid.

But let's be serious, that statement is ridiculous. Miles was a gun footballer without Hampson and will be a gun footballer long after Hampson is gone. Miles just looks over his niggling ankle injury. His form is down to his own ability.

fair call but theres no doubt he's the beneficiary of some good tap work.

As a huge non fan of Hampys I liked his game for a few reasons.

He took some marks. He kicked the ball (well) long rather than the 2m handball, he kept at the contest AFTER the ball up rather than be a statue.

The big risk is injury

If he stays fit he will keep having an impact

Has been unable to play 10 games in a row for his whole career

Fingers crossed

Took 3 contested marks in the wet. Thats 3 more than I can remember in his career with the tigers.

Where's Lamby? Gone strangely quiet. Not joining the chorus?

Hang on ... must be beavering away on his stats analysis to prove the Hammer is 'an utterly hopeless dud.'

Getting harder and harder. Taking longer and longer.

That moment when you run back from the mark but you're kicking the other way.

Yes, I know. He might have done it twice in recent games. I know we take our football very seriously mostly on PRE, and everything alters when we win a game or two, but I have to admit - Hampson makes me laugh.

He will never be Tyson Goldstein or develop great smarts, but just having a guy out there who seems almost immune to process-driven coaching, playing programmed footy, is amusing. He will never be one of the robotic automatons.

Surely there is still room left in AFL for an eccentric who nevertheless, is mostly useful?

Physically not reliabe. Need to recruit a ruck in the off season

Maybe for TV? Think no hope for Soldo to develop? Greater priority ahead of a quality inside and outside mid?

Many posters on here think ruck-work is over-rated. We currently have 6 x 200cm/plus players. Some clubs are running with 3 or even two.

I know what I think we need most. Just imagine if RFC could have got hold of Jacob Hopper.

Hampy did ok on Saturday, I liked his game but ( similar to what I said on the Morris thread) when you have a 27 yr old ruckman in his tenth season of AFL footy what he showed on Saturday night should be his worst game, not his rarely seen BEST game.

He tries. A more advanced Gus Graham.

Physical effort not the issue. Gives everything, I do admire that.

As much we over payed for him, I've stoped wishing for more.

Give the effort, win some hitouts and hope for a contested mark every now and then.

Anything more is a bonus.

I'm glad Beavis didn't persist with Maric. One of the few smart moves he's made this season.

Just gotta pray Hammer keeps improving. I can remember when Petrie was a clumsly cymbal hands. Stranger things have happened, I suppose.

Yeah, he's exceeding my lowered expectations.
