Gave up at least 2 goals directly from his own crap hand balls tonight from what I saw.

Can't be doing that against quality sides, needs to start working again might,Ve spent too much time in his own bath water.

Yeah 2 absolute howlers, one really bad one to Murphy on the back flank that resulted in a goal to the scum.

Hope he can turn it around

Had a shocker! :(

Those missed handballs! :-\

Agreed. And I think he needs to player deep in the forward line. He doesn't have the pace or midfield grunt to be used through the middle.

Had a good year did Sammy, but Castagna, Butler and Rioli should have him a little nervous. I think he needs to be a Medhurst-esque small forward and play exclusively 30 metres out from goal. The young fellas have him covered with the pace and explosion needed in bursts further up the ground.

Can be solid but would hope Lennon pushes him out for the mid fwd role.
Ben has the better upside imo

Needs to play forward not on the ball. Otherwise back to VFL for Miles or Menadue.

was shocking. Looked off the pace all night.
What was he thinking when he broke the tackle, straighten up and then decided to handball behind Rioli.

Awful performance tonight. I would drop him. Needs to find touch in the twos. Swap him for Lennon who has kicked 10 goals in 2 games

He goes alright against Collingwood. I wouldn't swap him for Lennon

I've never been a fan of Lloyd's, just doesn't do enough for me without the ball. Not a genuine small or tall, he should be a hit up machine providing 3 & 4 leads in the one passage, but I rarely see him do that, just doesn't get any separation not quick enough. Too small to be a genuine tall marking option and Rioli/Butler/Castagna having the smalls covered, from a structural sense he doesn't really provide any great benefit.
He's almost being asked to play the 3rd tall forward role, without the chop out in the ruck, of which he isn't capable.

I reckon we need another tall genuine marking option and I would have played Chol. He would have provided much better aerial presence and you wouldn't have lost anything on the ground the only concern would be his ability to run out the game. He could also help out in the ruck at times.
I think it's a bit much to ask Griffiths to play basically CHF and then go into the ruck when Nankervis needs a break.

It makes more sense to me to have a genuine tall instead of Lloyd. He's an each way bet that doesn't provide much either way.
From a structural point of view he makes no sense anymore.

And if he goes anywhere near the midfield (like last year) we are in heaps of trouble (which we were).

I'm a lloydy fan and had him pencilled in for another 35-40 goals (it may still happen), but the structure has changed. If the quartet of Edwards, Rioli, Butler and Castagna can play like that every week with speed and pressure, they aren't going anywhere. They don't offer marking power however which leaves Lloyd the odd man out.

Sam was caught out a bit with his height last night. We need more size and marking power in his role. To me the side is currently structure up a lot more than it's ever been to suit....Lennon. Faster ball movement, smalls there to create pressure. Lennon is a genuine 6'2 with hands of someone 6'4. He's kicked 7 two weeks ago and 3.3 this week.

I'd be swapping them over for a little bit. If that doesn't work, on to Chol.

I agree.

Sam is also being done no favours with midfield rotations. Hes pure forward.

Looked a little out of place with Rioli Butler & Castagna creating havoc. But if he was a little more selfish & had shots instead of handballing could of had 2 or 3

Looks injured.

Will get better, in a forward line full of athletes, he and Jack are the real natural footballers

Terrible game; butchered it all night.

Has proven he can play though so he gets a couple more chances at least I reckon.

You would think Lloyd & Lennon will be fighting for the one spot given the way the 3 smalls played

Won't get dropped but probably won't kick 35 this year with more small forward options competing. But did kick his 1 for the game.

If Lloydy becomes a depth player then that says positive things about our list. Probably shouldn't play when Castagna, Butler & Rioli are all in the side, but it's unlikely that such a young/inexperienced trio will all be able to maintain form & fitness throughout the season, so having him (and hopefully Bolton) as back ups will be very handy.
