Sam Lloyd

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

So wrapt for this guy to continue his preseason form in to the game tonight. Well and truly justified his selection. 5 shots at goal was it?

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Just kicks goals. Takes chances. Kicks multiple goals.

Dangerous and will require an opponent to sit on him.

Should be one of the 20+ goal kickers we need.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I don't like him and think against the good teams he'll get taken advantage of. However, I'll have to eat my words if he keeps this up. Just wondering if he's gonna be one of those types who kicks 3 one week, and does nothing for another 3, then kicks 4 then does nothing. Need him to be dangerous and accountable every week.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

He's played nine games and has kicked three goals four times. He knows where they are and how to get it there. That one on the boundary in the last, I nudged Dad and said, "He'll kick this." Looks fitter and presented well all night. Smart.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Kicked 3 in a great debut against the Pies when the rest of the team was pile. And I think kicked another bag of 3 against Geelong. Should have played more games last year IMO.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Lloyd was super impressive. The goals, the lurking, the hitting up, the marking. The work rate, the running, the work rate.

He fair dinkum cracked Carazzo in a contest on the wing.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Big fan. Thank god he's in the side. I worry if he's not kicking 3 or 4 every week he's straight out. It's not like he didn't kick goals last year when he got opportunity. If only his last name was Morris.

gee that's harsh. Pretty good damn player.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Really like what this guy adds. Looks a heap fitter than last year and possibly a tad quicker too.

Just does classy things and scores goals. Can't ask for more than that as a small forward

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Have always liked Lloyd from day 1. You can just tell the players who have a bit of goal sense. He did really well last night.

Dennis seemed rather obsessed with that stat last night. Brought it out nearly every time the ball went near Lloyd. It's good, but it does highlight a tendency to go missing for games.

I know it seems it, but in half of his games he's done wonders, he's not contributed in the other half, as well as being defensively weak. He's got heaps of talent, but has to learn how to contribute when he's not hitting the scoreboard. He does that, and he'll be lethal.

What? Dennis repeating the same thing over and over? Never. Some of the commentators are going a bit senile methinks.

It'll come, he's played, what, 10 AFL games?

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Yup around 10. I'm hoping it does. He's not 19 though.

One thing I'll say is he's obviously worked hard over summer. He's continually gone to higher levels of footy, so hopefully he's not hit the ceiling yet.

I said the same thing, that's his spot. Pity about the missed soda but top game

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

I thought he wouldn't make it. Thought he was too vanilla.

Boy was I wrong and more than happy to be.

Always had the nous, and he just gets the ball through the sticks without much bling.

Who says genuine small forwards need to be rappers?

Reckon that was endurance related last year. Looks to have improved that over summer. Looked to be covering the ground well last night. I expect he will be more consistent this year. But, like all permanent forwards we have to expect some incosnsistency.

Let's all just sit back and thank the footy gods Dimma is playing more perma forwards and not relying on defensive forwards or resting mid guns.

I've had a similar opinion, just worry of his lack of pace, however his improved fitness is no doubt going to help cover that, no doubt his a good footballer and on his first season I thought top vfl not afl standard , no doubt the big tests will come and at this point his shown good signs of me been wrong..
