If he is dropped not just next week or in a months time to fit king back in, this club is the dumbest club in the competition

Surely, Lloyd must be selected before King on every occasion for the remainder of the season, even if he puts in the occasional poor game.
King has not more to offer the Tigers whereas Lloyd may well be a surprise packet.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

As someone mentioned earlier he ended up having a Polo like debut, let's hope he doesn't have the Polo-esque career.

Good start for Sam!
Here's hoping there is no other comparison to Polo or Polo-esque hair dye job

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Looks to be a smart footballer!

Gets to good position and makes the most of opportunities !

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Yep - played well but will need to back it up. we were all singing the praises of Gordon last week and wanted him to start as he was fast and desperate etc but he only managed 9 disposals in a whole game last night as showed no real dash.

Agree. As bad as we have been so far this year, the idea that we have new players who we can bring in to turn the team around is absurd. It's our experienced players that have to right the ship and if a couple of new guys can step up that will be a bonus.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Amazing what happens when you play a player with natural forward instincts and goal smarts actually you know....up forward.

Soon to shoved down back along with the likes of McDonough and Lennon.

Don't sweat it Barnzy, this is Richmond, you know the process!

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

he played like a player yet to be confused and strangled by Hardwicks game plan. he played free football like he enjoyed being out there. our recent new players like Vlas, ellis and conca also played like this in their early games. look at the change in them now. only a matter of time before this is coached out of Lloyd, when hardwick either plays him in the backline or gives him defensive duties in the forward line.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

No doubt Lloyd will be moved the backline like others before him!

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Watched the game, he looks a natural, couldnt believe it was his first game. Composed, great goal sense, and a mature body. On that display...... CAN PLAY

[/quo spot on , before the Carlton game at the 3121 pr game interview I asked Mark Williams about recruiting smart mids and forwards and then playing them down back ,he said it is a lot easier to come in and have the play unfold in front of you .he called the hff a graveyard for young players. Flea laughed and said not when you're as good as he was .I think the jump from vfl to afl is so big now the young players need to come in play the position they're most comfortable in first .

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

with Lennon also to come in these two spell the end for jake king

good trier but not enough skills. lloyd is a solid upgrade here

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Steady people, lets see a few months from the boy before loading him up with expectation.

Astbury kicked three goals in his debut game.......

This his bloke won't get a few months, they'll stick him back in the VFL after a couple of weeks to make way for Petterd or KIng!

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Imagine how good this kid will be with Kingy helping him out.

Have liked this kid since day 1. Just a 'natural', my nickname for him. Knows where the ball will drop, knows how to find space and knows how to use the ball.

Even his field kicking was so 'natural'. No stuttering and soul searching. He just moved the ball on , saw a viable target and delivered no fuss.

Can apparently take a grab too, so waiting for the next instalment.

I said last week that we need to surround Jack with some smarts and mentioned Lloyd and................next step , Beanie.

Re: Welcome Sam Lloyd

Excellent first game.

Younger & better version of King.

Just need to ensure that he stays off the "sauce" for which he's renowned.
