Russia Invades Ukraine

Reaching the summit of Everest really has no bearing on the freedoms, cultural identity and your country's ability to self-govern. For you now and for your children in the future.

Reaching Everest is a personal goal.

Ridiculous analogy.
I agree, poor analogy. So you say they should keep fighting against overwhelming odds, losing many more lives and losing the war which is inevitable without direct NATO involvement?

Tell it to Vietnam, a dirt-poor, underdeveloped country. The Vietnamese fought the might of the US military from 1955 to 1975, suffering carpet bombing, napalm, and lost around 1.5 million civilians and military personal. They never gave up.

Your advice would have been "just roll over guys, you can't possibly win this"

I would imagine the Ukraine fighters would remember what life was like under Soviet rule. Now they know what life is like as an independent country. They would fight to the death if they believed that self-determination is the only option to ensure a safe, successful and content life for their children.

This is a fight the Ukrainians can't win on their own and innocent lives will be lost with the same outcome. Putin has gone all in and there's no going back now, he has put down the challenge to the free world. Ukrainians rightly pissed off with the lack of support and having to fight this proxy war on their own. Meanwhile if you believe the media Putin is bringing in Syrian fighters which has the possibility of destabilising the middle east. He already has chechen fighters in there which I found surprising.

A sad as I am about the Ukranian people's plight we have much more pressing issues at home right now.
All available funds & energy should be going towards those Australians affected by the latest climate change disaster.

Hmmm. The I’d (and all my future generations) would rather live on their knees than die on my feet argument.

I'd hazard a guess and say you haven't lived on your knees under soviet rule like the Ukraines have. They now experienced life away from that. If they've decided the risk of dying on their feet is better than seeing their future generations live on their knees then who's to argue otherwise.

Isn’t that what I’m saying ?

What's SloMo saying? Perhaps if he goes over to fight for Ukraine it might win him the election.
SloMa answers nearly every Ukraine questions with something about China. He's not very good at geography

We can do both, it is not a choice between the two.
