Round 2 Collingwood

We blew it .

Blew the start (as I feared they would) and then blew the end and cost themselves 2 points.

Without Grundy they are not winning anything.

With him they aren't winning anything.
Just a weak team. Up by 4+ goals in a miniature version of the game and they barely hung on for a draw.
We would've beaten WC

Both sides looked short of a gallop so a draw is probably the fair result

Thought Higgins looked well for his first game back other than the one mistake dropping the dusty shot

Jack showed signs of Being cooked hopefully he turns it around

Worried about graham other than defensive things he’s limited ross should be in ahead of him

Stack needs to be dropped another poor game by him has drank too much bathwater

Out stack and graham

In ross and caddy

I think Graham is a real worry. At times he looked like his shoulder is stuffed and he was too slow. He has come back in better form before and I hope he does but it wasn't good tonight.

Yep. Maybe Nank too; not sure Soldo is really the answer. Too clumsy, actually got in Dusty's way and obstructed him twice. Too many hit-outs go astray when he does get them.Just doubt there's enough of a natural footballer there. Neither he or Nank are great athletically but just think Nank will make less obvious mistakes even if he cannot match the likes of Grundy totally.

Graham was well off it hes an inside player not an outside player.

He's also looked slow, and has been under par in both games this year and looked off the pace in both.

I like the lad but if he's not bringing his 1 wood to the side right now then he will need to be replaced by someone that can.

Jack Ross or Caddy may well get his spot in the 22 next week.

Dimma does love him though (understandably as we all do) no doubt.

My pies mate messaged me and was ropeable with his pies. They only kicked one goal after qtr time lol nothing in the 2nd half.
He also said they were lucky to hold on, I agree the ball was in our fwd line felt like forever.

Let's face it after qtr time we were by far the better team 12 more inside 50's and the tackle count 70 to 29 shows how hard we fought.

That last 5 mins we had more than enough chances, just couldn't nail one more goal.
Jacks shot on goal marked on the goal line why wasn't anyone there to shepherd or push back the defender hard so no one could touch the ball.
Lynch running into goal thought he should've kicked it earlier as he slightly hesitated in trying to straighten up more and that was enough for the pies defender to charge at him and touch it.
Higgins free from front-on contact. Went slightly wide for a point.
Bolton from 50 but that kick hit Castagna on the chest and bounced off with a pies defender rushing it in for a point.
Prestia gets the ball tries to straighten up but got put off by a pies defenders.

Yes, pies had that last chance with brown I think but geez they were far and few between.

Anyway, we take the 2 points and reload.

Hit the wrong button. I think Soldo is doing a terrific job. He played on the competitions best tonight and held him to a reasonable game.

"Richmond’s Jack Higgins took a mark which appeared to be taken over the goal line in the second [actually the third] quarter. He kicked the goal. It was a mistake, surely, and the AFL will need to explain the decision on Friday."

It's late and I'm biased but I can't quite see a gap between ball and post (click to enlarge).

Of the many howlers perpetrated by the video review system, I don't think this is one of the most grievous. The picture is at worst inconclusive.

Maybe he's just trolling Collingwood supporters.

We are rusty. Didn’t start the game well.
couldn’t get goals through.
Fair enough. doesn’t matter, it’s round 2

Positives
We really stopped Collingwood scoring.
We owned the forward 50

haven’t lost in over 12 months

Liked DTLD in the post match, DTL on the field and off.
I thought exactly the same. DTLD was composed, articulate and very genuine. Should definitely do more media for us, give Cotch and Jack a well earned break.

Was interesting when he said he wasn't exhausted at the end like he was expecting, due to the shorter quarters , with some of the guys saying how the game passed very quickly.

I think we need to see the rest of the round before we take too much out of this game. All the players were rusty. I think there will be blowouts with mis-matched teams, tight games with the teams that are at the same level. Heaps to improve on but a draw is not the end of the world. Agree with the short quarter hate but only because it disadvantages us. Our ability to outrun teams will be lessened.

Not the greatest of games, with quite a few players very ordinary. With only 3 weeks to prepare and just a few contact training sessions, I'm prepared to cut a bit of slack.

Inside the last two minutes Prestia and lambert both dropped handball receives.

our opportunities to get that last posession before a score were muffed by untimely attempts to create the high chaos ball.

a cool head was needed to think it through and we didn’t have one.
I trust Vlastuin to make a calm decision but he’s way back in defence.

we were rusty but so were collingwood.
it was slippery but so it was for collingwood.
Buckley deserves applause for the way his team moves the footy.

I can’t wait to see collingwood and WCE in a PF.

For three quarters we saw a magnificent defensive effort by richmond.

classic Dimma and he was filthy about the first quarter.

it was just our forward movement and converting.

who is our forward line coach?

Collingwood saw lynch was set for 10 and absolutely blocked us up.
Which also helped to kill their own scoring.
Buckley thought he had a score he could defend but he was really wrong.
he’s lucky he got a draw.

Why is no one talking about the blatant free on Lynch when he had his arms chopped by Roughead half way through the last quarter?

He was 40m out directly in front.

Based on that view the correct decision was made. There is no way you can say that the whole ball is across the line from that vision. I admit I thought it was over the line when I saw it in real time and maybe vision from the other side may have shown that. But on the evidence at hand the right call was made.

As for the horrendously biased Brian Taylor he can GAGF. He is an embarrassment to sports broadcasting and Channel 7 should sack him. The way he carried on after this incident was a disgrace.

A Towner like defensive role by someone on Howe would have been handy, he was allowed to intercept at will.
