Round 2 Collingwood

Seriously this game is getting ruined by the wankers at AFL. 5 goals from two top teams especially with a fwd line like ours is pathetic. All the bloody changes they make has stuffed up the scoring and they want to make more changes. Totally ruining our great game for no reason other than ego.

I reckon everyone gets a pass for tonight. Strange build up, isolation, huge break... Blah blah blah.

But I can't remember Lambert playing a worse game for us. And I'm a massive fan. Broady and Vlastuin were enormous.

Buckley's flooding game plan was putrid to watch.

The short quarters changed the game completely. Surely they could go back to the normal length quarters and change back if the season is held up at some stage and they need to cram games in. It was good to get out with a draw seeing how poor we were in the first quarter. We looked miles off our best especially early on.

Yep absolutely. If the expectation is to play 17 games and it doesn't happen due to a second wave of restrictions then I think we can almost guarantee it's season over anyway. I don't see any logical reason for shortening the quarters. It certainly doesn't help the Tigers based on our game style.

We had 129 contested possessions tonight and Collingwood had 119 contested possessions, 248 in total.

Round one we had 109, match total of 234. Collingwood 123, 217.

Last year we averaged 137 contested possessions in 16 more minutes each game.

Can't see the pressure ratings on the AFL app but they will be up as well.

So yeah, it was a heavily contested game.
Looked like a game of keepings off.

They looked great in the first quarter and a half. We looked much much better than them for the rest of the game. Credit to them, they hung on and could have pinched it. Umpiring favoured us.

We'll be better for the run obviously. Stack stunk.

It was a horrible game to watch. Collingwood players diving into tackles and being allowed to get away with it. FFS AFL, if you want to reduce congestion, pay a holding the ball against Taylor Adams just one out of very three times he takes possession with no intent or attempt to dispose of it.

The changes haven't hurt scoring. Strategy has hurt scoring. Do people just invent *smile* to complain about?

We scored 105 in Round 1. Not sure there were changes since then to cause the scoring reduction.

They didn’t hang on. We just butchered the ball.

It’s annoying not to win but we were less than 50% of optimum. Much rather be us than them after that.

If we meet them in finals I just hope we finally learn from how they’ve played when they beat us. That first quarter bought back really bad memories of 2018 PF.

And FFS sit on Sidebottom!!!

Truth. Noticed this a lot. club is justified seeking clarification this week.

Broad took 2 x great contested marks that qtr.
Cotch was our best.
Good to see a little bit of run but gee,I haven't seen us turnover the ball so much in a long time.
I even said at that point that Broad was BOG... he probably wasn't but I have never been moved to say that about him before. As vital to back 6 as any other.

Would've loved to beat them by a point, McChins looked like a homeless wino sitting there all by himself.

Positives:

- Houli ran out the game well, disposal a bit off though
- Cotch
- Higgo
- Soldo - thought he was a beast after half time
- Grimes
- Vlastuin

Disappointing:

- Graham- big worry, slow and weak at the moment
- Jack R - not making the distance from 35 is criminal
- Stack, Rioli - non existent

Our small forwards were extremely poor tonight. Stack, Rioli, Bolton, Castagna.

You wouldn’t want to put in too many *smile* games.
Thought Bolton was vey involved from quarter time. Rest were invisible, Stack a couple of moments, George a goal assist but that was it.

Yeah. Port 2012, St.Kilda 2011, North 2009, Bulldogs 2008, Brisbane 2007, Essendon 1995.

First draw I haven't been at since 1977.

S***, I think the same for me, can't recall a draw I have been to since the '77 GF.

As for tonight's game, well it was weird.

We should have and could have won, but, if you offered me a draw at quarter time I would have jumped at it.

Both teams were clearly very rusty, we just couldn't get a run on and Collingwood seemed to run out of puff quite early. Both teams looked like plenty of players carrying more weight and not because of more muscle.

The upside is I reckon we were way off our best and Collingwood were a fair way off their best. We have more room for improvement IMO. Collingwood are a genuinely good side and can play a lot better than that though.

I think they might just have to legalise the throw at the rate it's going, if the maggots won't pay free kicks when the ball is clearly thrown then what can you do, get Darrell Hair out there?

Hate the short quarters, really hate it. I understand the logic for this season and can put up with it but Gil recently said it won't continue which is the correct decision.

Our disposal was woeful, I'm not convinced we picked the right side and I reckon a few of the players from the scratch match will be in contention. Hopefully there can be more scratch matches too, all the players on every team's lists need match practice, that much was obvious from tonight's game.
