Round 2 Collingwood

I reckon that's pretty unfair.

They shortened the quarters to give them the chance to compress the season if necessary and they need to keep that card up their sleeve in case of any further interruptions.

I doubt anyone would want to see the times of quarters change part way through the season.

Tonight was a heavily contested game, played by two teams with limited preparations and plenty of rust, The short quarters didn't seem to worry too many people in round one when it was 16 goals to 12 v Carlton.

Heavily contested? You r on drugs.

I don’t like the idea of shorter quarters (I don’t think it will be in next year, either), but tonight the players were absolutely buggered with the shorter quarters, so in this case in the context of how weird the season is, it’s not that bad a move.

Our small forwards were extremely poor tonight. Stack, Rioli, Bolton, Castagna.

You wouldn’t want to put in too many *smile* games.

Its neccessary for this season especially the first month as players get their conditioning back but not next year.

I reckon our blokes ran the game out well. We were all over them late in the game but we couldn’t hit the side of a barn in our forward line and we fumbled at crucial times when we had a chance to win.

But at the end of that game it was clear we were the better side. We can’t play that badly again; surely.

Our pressure game was poor early. We cranked things up as the game went on. Alot of rust as to be expected and the players were spent. Once our pressure game is up and running the pies, or any other side, can't go with us.

From where we were at 1/4 time, I'll take that.

I just took 11 deep breaths.

It's pretty good to have footy back!!

I had 37 texties about jack not making the distance from 35, and that's still better than taking about social bloody distancing all day.

Grundy a thorn in our side first quarter but did think Soldo picked up the pump after that to stop his influence.

Draw is a good result in the shorter season.

Very rusty and blew plenty of chances, they played well and couldn't beat us.

I thought other than the 1st quarter Collingwood played cr@p just as we did. Last year that would be the level of bottom 4 team.

Hate the short quarters but love the play everyone once season.

We got over the Collingwood hurdle early. Didn’t win, but they didn’t win either.

They looked sharper. They have more to prove and will be looking to bank wins early.

All this talk about them being a bogey team will be put on ice and we may not even face them in finals.

I’m wary of Collingwood. They match up well.

Tonight was a non-result, but as the team with 2 x cups we walk away with less angst.

All up, I’m ok with a draw being the wake up call and not a loss.
