Round 2 Collingwood

Worse game ive seen us play in a very very long time.
We with a running side, but we had some players just not on.
Rioli was down.
Pickett after time was MIA
Jack was shocking.
I thought Bolton, Cotchin and Broad were our best.
We weren't composed in the last 2 minutes, we kept on bombing it, instead of going in short.

Would love AFL to put game back to 20 minutes plus time on as normal, game was a quarter less.

I dare say playing first this week will certainly help the Pies next week with more recovery time than their opposition.

We get one more day recovery than the Hawks and of course Pies get near 2 more days rest than the Saints.

Nice draw for the Maggots.

that was weird. not sure what i just watched ?
Covid, shorter Qs, no crowd, match fitness, etc etc... All of the above i suppose....

Change for the sake of change and the stoking of Hocking’s ego to make his job relevant.

Why are shorter quarters necessary?

Next Year they are not.

And if they shorten the quarters next year it will be proven to be a stitch up.

This is a convenient Beta Test and the AFL are as shifty as it gets.

People will be less likely to pay $$$ for memberships or to make the effort to drive from Croydon or Werribee, Belgrave, or Carolione Springs or Craigieburn or Eltham or Frankston or Hastings or Pakenham for 1 hour of footy it wont be worth the $$$.

I will cop it if it is only for this season.

The short quarters changed the game completely. Surely they could go back to the normal length quarters and change back if the season is held up at some stage and they need to cram games in. It was good to get out with a draw seeing how poor we were in the first quarter. We looked miles off our best especially early on.

I reckon that's pretty unfair.

They shortened the quarters to give them the chance to compress the season if necessary and they need to keep that card up their sleeve in case of any further interruptions.

I doubt anyone would want to see the times of quarters change part way through the season.

Tonight was a heavily contested game, played by two teams with limited preparations and plenty of rust, The short quarters didn't seem to worry too many people in round one when it was 16 goals to 12 v Carlton.
Thought it was *smile* when they announced it; even more convinced now.

Hocking is a nimrod who is clearly out of his depth
