OMG so Gibcus isn't a defender to you, but you want Lefau (who I don't think has ever played there) to man up against Mckay. Its a bit early to have been drinking I'd have thought

So predictable but I’d guess you would still prefer to play Tarrant!

Tarrant was very good in his 1 season he was fit to play for us, so not sure of your point.

So you really want to throw Lefau to the wolves and play his 1st game in defence against a former coleman medallist. Talk about trying to destroy the guys confidence.

You do come up with some wacky ideas at times.

Gibcus is not ready to play on McKay.
Balta to play forward and relieve in the ruck.
Millers demonstrated form yesterday, doesn’t warrant his return.
There is no easy answer.
Lefau comes with a mature physique++
Despite his inexperience and given the players available, Lefau looks to me to be the most likely to succeed and not the type to lose confidence, come what may.

We have to limit the amount of influence Cripps McKay Kennedy Curnow & de Koning will have on the game. Dusty/Cripps McKay/Balta Kennedy/Taranto Curnow/Broad de koning /nankervis.

I hope Yze has the backing and the ego and the kahunas to make some decisive tough calls.

skip the allure of a few stirring wins on emotion,

and play the kids and bottom out. dont betray anyones trust; dont do a Clarko - be honest.

INs and stay ins ASAP for me: Sons, Mcaullife, Seth, Steely, bauer, sampo, coultard, Juddy, Melee, Brown, trez, banks, Cumberland, smith, MRJ

if they dont sparkle in 20-30 games, gone.

we've seen enough of Dow HRS and Miller. respectfully tap Grimesy, Nank, Dion on the shoulder.

(whose idea was it to make yesterdays greats with worn out bodies and minds co-captains? that was a *smile* howler)

maybe trade Hopper on to a quick contender short of some muscle in the middle? GWS? Dees acted decisively on Grundy - we should too. Jack Ross can do Hoppers job for less than half the $$$, and use the ball twice as well

its like gold panning for the next 3-4 years.

shovel em in, see if they shine in a bit of water,

throw on the bullock heap,

get another shovel full

and we'll be shovelling from the headwaters, up near the motherload,

instead of 18km downstream

I love it Ezy boy!

Where was this pragmatism when I was pushing for it last year?!

(I actually do get it, you were defending two great warhorses in Jack and Cotch)

Ezy is right, it is time for brutal honesty.

A handful of stirring wins with the older brigade only to see us finish mid-table is a nightmare result for me and it should be for everyone associated with the club.

I think in development terms, I was wrong you were right,

in cultural terms, reversed.

I still believe we could have burgled the flag with Lynchy and Gibbo.

but we'll never know.

but yeah, Im agreeing with ya

and we both have JRoss starting in the guts taking heat for a couple of years?

would have got pretty long odds on that a year ago

80% agree with your gun loading,

largely disagree on your rocket launching

it was quite extraordinary being their yesterday watching dion, Tarrant, hopper and particularly dow,

watching Rowell and Anderson clear at will in the first half

our mids looked hungover cartoon characters.

Dow was dreadful. I reckon he might have been crook, it was too bad to be true

Fair.

On the evidence of one game (not much data) I would like to see

- Broad show more leadership as I think he tends to be one of those chameleon players. When the going is good he’s right there but when things go to *smile* he is pretty passive.

- Baker does not impress up the field. Too many half-smothered handballs and grubby kicks. I think D50 is his safe space.

- Taranto is an elite player and should get more value from his disposals.

- Meatball was poor yesterday. When he is poor we are getting smashed at clearances.

I can't remember a single game since 2020 where we turned up ready to go from the opening bounce and applied relentless pressure for the entire match.

I think as a *group* we've lost the desire after ascending the mountain three times. In some cases it's individuals at the end of the line (Grimes, Prestia); with quite a few others it's inconsistent effort; while some are clearly not ready, if they ever will be (Ryan, Banks). Whatever, the mix isn't right and the desperation isn't there other than in patches.

In the game on Thursday there was a passage of play where the Swans kicked the ball to half forward where Papley was outnumbered three to one. No chance of marking it, little chance of winning the ball. But he pushed back hard into the oncoming pack and somehow forced a spillage. Just desperate. As much as I dislike him, sigh, that's what we used to be like all across the park.

Our lack of pace and poor skills are now highlighted because we don't deliver that kind of heat consistently. Relentless pressure masks other deficiencies.

So unless the coaches can somehow find that magical mix of players and positional changes then yeah, what EzyT said above.
