Round 1 (2022) - other games

I dont mind what Bevo said. I think many coaches wud love to tee off at these idiots sometimes. Have a look at that wanker Hugh Riminton two years back having a crack at us for what he called sexual assault.......{mabior chol}, Was not a good look but Riminton hiding behind his press pass went way over the top with the wording of his comments and questions, Some of these press fools go way to far at times and Morris and Brown and Sam Maclure are three of the worst. I am sure the AFL press gang and all its sycophant journalists will come screaming out in support of Morris. Anyway - just my two cents worth.

Don't forget afl control 90% of the media so expect them to get involved , but about time Journalists are held accountable Edmund got a mention to.
I think Bevo praised Edmund for being a journo who’d ring him up to check a story.

Bevo's message was spot on & well aimed but the delivery was course.
Reckon there's been plenty going on behind the scenes of his club for him to get that emotional.
If a delivery is forthcoming it will only be for the way he delivered the message. Not the message itself which was pointed at a jernalist looking for a story at the expense of a player's mental health.

The only thing that could have topped Bevo's outburst is if it was directed to Kane Cornes.

Petracca was the difference last night but big call on the Brownlow. Long season ahead.
Robbo: Can Dusty get to Christian Petracca’s level?

HeraldSun
17 March 2022

Christian Petracca had 20 disposals and a goal at halftime and finished with 38 and two goals.

He has been compared to Dustin Martin and now it’s probably fair to ask: Can Dusty get to Petracca’s level?

That’s no disrespect to Dusty, for he probably is the best player this century, but that is a question in reference to last year then Wednesday night.

Martin was injured last year and the footy world looks forward to seeing what he can do against Carlton on Thursday night.

Right now, Petracca is the clubhouse leader.

He has set a lofty bar and surely it’s time opposition coaches don’t allow him to sit off the contest like he does and dominate.

Steve May told Fox Footy after the game that when he saw on the scoreboard Petracca had 37 possessions, he asked Naughton: Why don’t you tag him? May revealed Naughton said: “Nuh, we don’t tag.’’

Will every team have the same philosophy? If yes, then Petracca is going to love footy this season.

I thought Bevos press conference was

Superb.

He took The Boys Cartel on big time.

He'll get fined and sanctioned etc,

because holding The AFL and its subordinates to account,

is not tolerated.

I really hope this is Bevos retirement plan - to go apeshit all year, then go fishing.

I hope he wipes his arse on Gil McLachlans school tie at a gala ball

Footscray reiterated last night, that the Hardwick 1 Ruckman manoeuvre,

is officially dead.

Footscray are not contenders. They select too many VFL players to play AFL.

and even their fated mids, Bont and Smith aside,

aren't that good

treloar - dunkley - MacRae are non-damaging plodders

I watched on replay Bevos press conference and then the fox commentators response.

Get into them Bevo - their an old boys club and they pull rank when their little life’s are threatened and they can’t handle having some of their own gutter tactics thrown back in their face.

The media have far to much control on setting the footy agenda and the way they defend their pet clubs (ce bumbers) or pet players (ce Ablett, Hawkins and Selwood etc) and attack others clubs and players. I notice they have backed off the tigers now we are no longer seen as a serious threat.

the AFL will say 58,000 last night was a success, but if its on a friday night, this game pushes 70,000. Will they learn their lesson? of course not.

Test of the AFL here. I dont like Tom Morris and I sort of admire Bevo’s guts, but he delivered it all wrong and went too far.

I think Bevo is spot on... he just did chose the wrong issue to lose his sh!t over. I despise AFL journo's, but i don't think Morris did anything wrong on this occasion.

I thought bevy delivered his Boys Club salvo in a very measured way.

He didn't swear. I dont think he delivered any personal insults. He left in an orderly fashion.

He acknowledged and owned the Clubs contribution through leaking.

His point about wellbeing post Covid was justified and well-made.

We've all been through a lot.

Ive had a couple of delayed stress/fatigue outbursts myself.

professionalism does not preclude humanity, and humanity is needed more than ever.

yes, it would have carried more weight after a win, but they lost.

you can't take these things in isolation.

(deleted, thought it was Tom Brown - just realised its Tom Morris :rotfl1)

oh well, cut from the same cloth

We agree on this TBR. I like watching them play and was happy to see them win last year after we were out. They are a genuine hard at it side with some real stars. Remind me of us. I want us to stay fit and see if we can dethrone them.

Yeah, I've always been of the school of "respect your opponents" - unless of course they do something despicable. I don't really see that this version of Melbourne have done anything despicable except being really good and probably a little bit cocky about it this season.

I like the way this Melbourne team plays footy - they copied it from us after all (right down to having a rest in the second term). I don't like the way the Melbourne Football Club has tanked, been propped up by the league, and now struts around talking of dynasties. I despise the way many of their supporters spit out the word socialism when they want the government to deny poor people any help, but puff out their chests like their club wouldn't be extinct if not for AFL socialism.

As for Bobblehead Morris, it is extremely unprofessional if he has a story about the Dogs and doesn't give Bevo a call about it.
