Rodney Eade Sacked

Gee this place is slipping - three pages in already and no-one's suggested we get him to assist Hardwick yet.

He'll get a job as a senior coach again

Based on a tweet I've just read it may be that the decision was made purely to save money.

There is some logic to that with a raft of semi-seasoned assistants around. I'd add Hinkley to that list Brodders. Also, would Cambo be a shot at the Bulldogs after being told some years ago to go and get some more experience elsewhere.

Eade is such an easy choice for Melbourne, and they've stated they want a very experienced coach.

I'd be surprised is Primus endures too.

He wasn`t told by the Bulldogs to go elsewhere and get experience.

He was told that by Terry Wallace when he finished playing, that`s why he went to the Bulldogs to get experience before Wallace got him back to Richmond as an assistant.

My mistake then, knew he had to go an get experience ;D Interesting he didn't put his hand up though when he could have........

Silly move.
Why do you say that- Eade has achieved 2/3rds of bugger all in his coaching career, and he has had good lists to work with.

And he may get the same again if the Dees are stupid enough to appoint him.

While it is always tough to see a man lose his job, I for one hope that Eade does not get another gig at AFL level.
IMO no-one has destroyed the fabric of Australian football more than Eade, when he masterminded the flood in his Sydney days.

I thought Sheedy pioneered the flood. I know he pioneered "icing the clock" which is almost as bad and why it was so hilarious to see all the Bummer flogs get so upset at Bowden back in '08.

I respect the job that Eade did in taking the Swans and the Dogs who were both cellar dwellers when he took them over to being regular finals contenders that punched above their weight for much of his time when in charge of those teams.

Eade took over the Dogs at the same time as Wallace took over Richmond with both teams occupying bottom spots on the AFL Ladder.

Eade has taken the Bulldogs to 3 Preliminary Finals in his time while Wallace took Richmond nowhere.

I have no doubt that if Rodney Eade took over Richmond instead of Terry Wallace at the end of 2004, then Richmond would be far better placed now and would have had far more success in recent years.

Eade would seem a perfect fit at Melbourne for mine.

FLOODING

Then Sydney coach Rodney Eade is widely acknowledged as the inventor of 'flooding'.

Rodney Eade: "I'd watched a bit of soccer, and they've done it since the year dot. And when I was playing footy as a kid, the coach would always say: 'If the opposition has the ball 60 metres out, our midfielders need to get back and block up some space to stop the full-forward.' It was a matter of educating the (Swans) players to move up a line when the opposition got the ball so we could block space. In the third game of '96, the players took to it en masse and all got back. There was no actual directive from the coach's box. The players just had a real thirst for knowledge and it ended up being a real positive for us because it also created a lot of space for Tony (Lockett). Other teams initially didn't really know how to counter it, but eventually they started moving the ball slowly and methodically.
