He asked for the decision to brought forward so they decided that if he wanted that they would advise him his contract would not be renewed . Its a sacking I guess but 3 weeks before it would have happened . He will coach the last 3 games .

Pretty good coach Eade . Melbourne could do a lot worse than him

I wanted Eade when we got Wallace. I wonder how different our fortunes might have turned out if that had eventuated.

Well you would think we couldn't have been any worse than we were under Terry.

It's interesting that in 2004 the Dogs, Hawks and Tigers were all looking for coaches. Dogs targeted eade and we targeted Wallace while the Hawks were laughed at for dilly dallying and ending up with the unfashionable Clarkson.

Seven years on and only Clarkson remains, with a premiership cup in his cupboard and another within reach.

Clarkson together with Roos and Worsfold are the reasons why it became the done thing to get a young coach rather than an experienced one.

I'm not quite sure about this strategy at the moment, a lot of the best up and coming assistants have all recently got jobs - Dimma, Scott, Scott, McKenna, Longmire as well as Voss, Hird and Buckley who I prefer to call the golden boys. That is a lot of the best potential coaching talent to get a job over the last 2 years and means the remaining pool of options is pretty thin.

Yep, hence why Melbourne should go with Eade, plus I think they really need an experienced coach.

I don't know about Jock McHale but I think with the right person in place we would have been miles in front of what we are/were.

David Smoron should be sacking players not Eade.

Who knows...maybe Mick will be back to where he started coaching at the Dogs..........'unfinished business'...

i think there are still enough highly rated assistants. Leon Cameron, Mark Neeld, Bomber Thompson and Scott Burns to name 4.

Yep.Forgot about the Dees.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Dees or Crows.
Young list and unstable board
vs
A list to work with and stable board.

Dees have more upside, plus who would want to live in Adelaide?

Big rumour around the airwaves is that Wallace is licking his lips for a return for some more........' unfinished business'.

Really surprised by Eade not being renewed. Like others I reckon he'll surely get a gig elsewhere & the dees would seem obvious fit.

I wonder if we'll ever get the full story on how it came to this. Or was it as simple as Smorgon putting his foot in it with the preseason expectations?

I would happily see Wallace go to any of the clubs looking for a coach. :hihi

On one hand I am not surprised, but on the other hand, surprised. Just cannot remember any criticism of his coaching per se. Not a good year for the doggies but did not think it was due to bad coaching. The players have to take some responsibilty for performance, surely. Some of their key players like Cooney have been down on form, possibly due to injury, Lake missing for one reason or another, and no Aker this year. If the players don't perform on the field is that Eade's fault as a coach?
