Yet he is 5th in effective tackles at the Tigers this year.  I think his defensive side is under-estimated sometimes.  And what about his marking last night?  He's coming on.  Showed heaps in his first season, went a little walkabout last season, but has hit hard this year.  Great season, well done little man.

Yep, he usually chases and tries very hard defensively. But unless the opponent is already on the ground, they often manage to get the ball to a teammate. How many of his tackles result in a free kick, turnover or bounce?

Outstanding improvment...credit to the kid workin his butt off an building an AFL tank....I would hav given him the sars at the end of 2010...jus needs to up the ante a bit against the top 4 squads

If there is one player that has earnt a contract it's robbie...
there are just way too many players to name that should not wear the yellow and black ever again based on their efforts this year alone.

You get the impression this year won't be a one off. Turned himself into a player through hard bloody work and want. Well done Yeah Nah.

I get the feeling that Vlad will get to deliver the R Naaahaaas more than once on Brownlow night this year .

I was wrong about him .

As my wife said during the 3rd quarter last night, one of the things she likes about "Nellie" (I don't know why, it's what she's always called him) is that when he stuffs up he just bores back in to try to make amends.

The work he did in order to play as well as he has is a credit to him. The true test is whether he goes hard again in the pre-season, or thinks he has made it.

As I said 5th in effective tackles at the Tigers.

What's the definition of "effective tackle"? What's his ratio of ineffective:effective tackles?

Edit: Never mind, looked it up myself. He's 24th at 68% effective - not diabolical, but below average.

Not really a criticism, just an observation. Nahas does make the effort, but isn't always physically up to the task.

If his tackles stuck, L2, he'd be a lock in premiership player IMO. But they often look puerile. Every time I write him off he improves. I'm a swinging voter but I admire his endeavour and I hope he goes on with it.

Yes but if he's 5th in effective tackles per game then he's making more effective tackles than 32 other players on the list. 2.7 tackles a game out of 4. For someone tipping the scales at 67 kilos, I wouldn't be knocking that part of his game. It's far superior to many others on the Tiger's list.

His speed gets him to a lot of contests, but it depends whether we're talking about good tacklers, or good tacklers for their size.

2.7 effective tackles per game, 5th at the Tigers. I'd say he's a relatively good tackler full stop. Now saying that the Tigers only have 1 effective tackler in the top 50 (Foley at 33 with 4 effectives per game) so it's all relative. But as far as the Tigers are concerned, many many other players who are far inferior tacklers to Nahas.

Well we don't have to agree about the effectiveness of his tackling. It's a secondary issue, we'd be mad to sacrifice some of his zip by beefing him up. He might resemble a pesky mosquito being shooed away at times, but as long as he's biting regularly it's all good.

Perhaps I was blind to it earlier but in the last two games, Nahas' intensity was near-manic.
