Richmond vs St Kilda - Game Day Thread

My point was more along the lines of if he wasnt ready we really werent desperate for a backman as Miller was good the week before. No need to rush back and now could miss weeks
Agree thought Miller was solid, didn’t fumble and used it under pressure

What is it with *smile* St.Kilda? They are *smile*. Yet 3 times in the past 6 seasons they have handed us horribly embarrassing losses. I don’t get it. Why do we put up such pathetic performances against this particular team that isn’t very good?

Shedda has been underwhelming, has had a great career but has not looked all that good for these 3 rounds. Well, RD 2, nothing flash but he did ok.

RD 1 14 disposals, 1 tackle, 0 goals
RD 2, 17 disposals, 2 tackles, 1 goal
RD 3, 13 disposals,, 1 tackle 0 goals

Umpires didn't help, our undisciplined acts didn't help and like RD 1 the boys coughed up a good lead and ran out of legs in the last quarter.

Being at the ground there were some bad howlers by the umpires, it's unbelievable how they are not held to account.

This one is so obvious but the ump didn't pay the free against the Jack Hayes for tunnelling broad, putting him under the ball.

As far as I gathered, Grimes' injury had nothing to do with a hamstring, so your point is moot.

Is Dimma the right man to rebuild us?

I think he could be on the nose a bit. Cheating on the missus, could the lacklustre form actually stem from what he did? A loss of respect for him.

A triple premiership coach should have assistant coaches knocking down the door to work with him, but the opposite has happened, we've lost some quality, and haven't replaced it.

Everyone could see it.
No depth in the guts even that dud Dunstan wouldve been better then what we have.
We haven't hit the wall we have folded like wet paper.
Fken use 2 picks to get Mitchell or Omeara.
O'Meara ? o_O you wouldn't take that bloke if he was given away for free, talk about slow and done at this level, he's right up there with Cotch at present, which absolutely breaks my heart to even think, let alone say. Sheeda same deal, but I believe injuries have cruelled him of late to be playing at the level he is currently. Happens to the best who have ever played the game, these 2 are no different, except they gave us soooooo much joy over the last 5 years, so they will always have my gratitude. As for a Mitchell type .........Nahhhhh, boring one dimentional gatherer, doesn't appeal to me in any way as the type we need.

I went into the season hoping for a last run at it but the reality is we aren't anywhere near it. The midfield has been slaughtered late in two out of three games. The Saints aren't world beaters and they made us look ordinary. Without Dusty and Prestia we are probably a bottom six team.

I think we need to just keep finding out about players. Dow was a good today. I think we can nearly put a line through Ross. He just doesn't make good decisions. Hugo showed a bit, although Butts had too much forward craft for him. Sonsie and Mansell played well in the twos so maybe give them a go.

The midfield will need to be rebuilt over the next few years. There isn't much coming through. The 2018 combo of RCD and Ross looks like a bust.

I still have high hopes for RCD. Has played 2 good ressie games and i hope he gets his chance once again in the ones.

Today's game stats for the reserves. Sonsie looks the goods and I have been impressed with Judson Clarke. Mansell also played a good game.

And the re build is bigger than we think. Our 3rd and 4th year players on our list are very mediocre.
Agreed, and we dont have the quality of coaching staff we did that brought the premiership players.

Rutten and Leppa for the Backs Fly and Caracella for the rest.

The guys on the park were not the only Dream Team for the Tigers each week. We had them in the coaching box.

Kingsley has been good but there is every chance that the Kochies will come for him if they sack Karen Hinkley.

I've been saying this for a while. I agree unfortunately.

The RFC fabric has disintegrated, the club is a shadow of itself from 2020.

The love is gone the energy the vim and vigor is gone, this side for the last 12 months is not the RFC of the previous 4 years.

Martin walking away, key coaches leaving its all just disintegrated.

Yes it happens to all successful clubs but not usually that fast.
Yes indeed Craigy.

I think what we are witnessing is just how much energy and effort it takes to win 3 Premierships in 4 years in todays brand of Football, never an easy task and certainly NOT in the high paced game of "runs of unanswered goals" we are seeing in today's game's by teams every Rd it seems.

Our players look worn out after 2 1/2 Qs and thus get run over by the smaller faster teams it seems and we just don't have the cattle onboard to just replace the slow-of-foot soldiers we are still sending out at the moment.
Some big hurt is coming, no doubt of that so be prepared, those glorious years of '17-20 will enable me to withstand a few bad years, I guess thats the beauty of having seen it all before and getting a little mellower in old age, but you'll survive until those glory days return, trust me, we've all been there before.

I'm not calling for it and I dont want to - they are legends. Fairly obvious from their own words anyway, they know they are done. Even last year Cotch knew - he's taking the cash this year, and fair enough.

WTF!! Chimp playing on to just take the cash? He is still going harder at the ball and man than anyone in the AFL.

Crazy and insulting talk.

An I’m not that upset. I couldn’t decide if we’d make the 8 or not this year. Erred on the positive and went with us finishing 7th in the PRE ladder competition. Wasn’t as bullish as some though with predictions of Premierships, finishing 3rd or whatever.

We could still make the 8. Not over yet ! But we’ve got a lot of re constructive work to do regardless. That includes playing and non playing personnel …and over a number of years too.

Been a great ride. Pumped about our club.

Just like Cook at Geelong was, think Gale is the key to our next few years and subsequent fortunes. Must keep him.

Yep. Benny is the absolute key as we transition the team/club.

Last year was the decline. This year will be the send off. If the club does it right we can re-generate with some quality kids and smart free agent and trade play.

Id be retiring Cotchin, Edwards, Jack and possibly Lambert.
Delisting Caddy, Martyn, RCD, Aarts, Ross.
Would seriously look at trading Graham to a SA team and also Castagna to whoever wants him.
Martin could also be moving on.

Big chunk of cap and players. Id be looking at bringing in 2 ready made mids eg Green etc. We need another ruckman with craft. Soldo battles hard but has no craft. He is a chaos footballer.

Would also make Jack an assistant and throw big dollars to lure Hodge as an assistant.

Then go hard again at quality kids. Will be 2022 and 2023 pain and then reckon we start coming good again in 2024.
This !!! We don't know what's going to happen with Dusty either .. will be a very different Tiger outfit in 2023 .. End of an era hopefully the start of a new one .

Our blokes clearly are not fit enough.

And our younger guys lack the intensity required at AFL level.

Some of our so called senior players were ordinary today Short was one of em he was poor, and soft.

We need another heavy draft hand in the next two drafts.

Enjoy wiping our tears on 3 flags and crying into 3 cups.

None of the others in the basement with us can do that
What's with Shorty Craigy ? For me he has been our most disappointing player the last 25 games........ was winning the B&F the worst thing that could've happened to this bloke ? For some reason it feels like it, he doesn't hit me as the type to let it go to his head, but then again, how would one know ?...but Man, he has been well below Par last year and so far this season and I can't for the likes of me figure out WHY !

Too old. Too young. Too slow. Too disinterested.
Not enough heart. Not enough talent.
We will regret not forcing a couple more hands to follow Houli.
Good news is the rebuild already started last draft, but we have a long way to go.
See ya at the top again in approx 10 years if all goes perfectly.

This in BOLD.... that is all. (with my love & respect to those of course)

You forgot the constant rule changes.
But you can't really blame the new rules.
We are spent.
