Richmond vs St Kilda - Game Day Thread

Ah well. It’s been a great ride. Just disappointing we’ve fallen off a cliff so badly, so quickly. We’re not gonna be like Geewhinge and stay competitive it seems.

And the re build is bigger than we think. Our 3rd and 4th year players on our list are very mediocre.

The RFC fabric has disintegrated, the club is a shadow of itself from 2020.

The love is gone the energy the vim and vigor is gone, this side for the last 12 months is not the RFC of the previous 4 years.

Martin walking away, key coaches leaving its all just disintegrated.

Yes it happens to all successful clubs but not usually that fast.
Agree.

After Round 1 and then today, questions need to be asked about our fitness, the way we have been smashed in the final quarter is a massive worry.

However, if people say umpires don't influence the game, those 2 crazy decisions in the 3rd when we were 25 points ahead, Saints went bang, bang and got the score down to 13 within such a short period of the game. We were very close to breaking the game open. After that goal which brought the lead from 25 to 19, one of the commentators (might have been Ling) said that it was a crucial goal. It sure was, but for a poor umpiring decision to provide it, thats just not what we want from the game.
Spot on Posh. Umpires have massive influence over key moments.

The moron commentators were giggling about the throw by Gresham.

Jack retire , Cotch can join him , time to free up salary space for next year .
We are shot for 22 done , cooked could not beat our 2nd's team .
Pathetic really no fight no balls all spots up for grabs even Hardwicks .

It's up to Dimma & co. to do it. Do they know what to do is the question.

the coaches badly need to look internally at their own performance here.
It's as feeble a club performance as those 100 point thrashings in 2016. St Kilda are not a top 4 side. We were very, very poor.

Its not player X or Y. It's a whole of club thing that needs some serious analysis.

I can't see Inside 50 stats for teams, but for players it shows 14 for the Saints to 9 for us in the final quarter. They scored 9 times in that final quarter, thats outrageous and shows how poor our midfield pressure was, it wasn't poor defence from the defenders, its hard to defend someone like King when the ball is coming in so freely.

We definitely need some comment from Dimma around our fitness levels.

Yep, 2 in 3 games already.

All to familiar pattern in our losses going right back to round 8 last year. We’ve got massive issues.
Agree, TF
The warning signs have been there for a while and do stem well back into last season.
I didn't want to believe it then but the repetition of these types of efforts is now confirming what I feared.

Our blokes clearly are not fit enough.

And our younger guys lack the intensity required at AFL level.

Some of our so called senior players were ordinary today Short was one of em he was poor, and soft.

We need another heavy draft hand in the next two drafts.

Enjoy wiping our tears on 3 flags and crying into 3 cups.

None of the others in the basement with us can do that

We conceded 8.4 from stoppages. Its the only thing we have Soldo in the team for, and he was awful today, totally smashed. Whats the point of playing him if we concede so heavily from stoppage?
Soldo looked like a first gamer. His marking attempts reminded me of cymbols Hampson.

The rot really started against the Eagles last year. 4 goals up with 10 minutes to ago and we curled up our toes. Then after the bye the Saints destroys at our home ground. We kicked 2 goals for the entire game. We have never looked like a good team since that Eagles game.

That’s 2 games in a row the Saints have embarrassed us. St.Kilda that is. They are *smile*.

We are in a bad way.

His continued selection is the most emblematic thing of our downfall. He wouldn't have been in our top 35 players from 2017-20.
No hard feelings for the guy but he is nowhere near afl level.
