Richmond vs Hawks in Tassie

I’ve seen enough of Gibcus already to say we have a future AA key back on our hands. KPPs like him generally take time but he is just about ready to step in and play.
I’m not saying he is necessarily 100% ready to play at a high level now but he is as advanced at 18 ( almost 19) as any Key position player I have seen at Tigerland for a long time, probably back to Ottens and Richo.
What helps Gibcus is he is surrounded by experienced players. Definitely makes the transition of a first year player that much easier.

But nonetheless he has earned his spot.

Must have been watching a diff game both Ross 21p at 85% and broard 20p at 75% very good , maybe give the sauce a rest next time
Wow pretty disrespectful post mate.

Just a bit of a query on the stand rule, if a player who is on the mark runs off and another guy then runs in to stand the mark, shouldn't it be a 50 metre penalty?

Found it hard work watching today but for the most part thought it was good.

Balta was encouraging, backline mix looked good even without Vlastuin and the prime movers are all in good nick.

Aarts is my biggest concern, don't think he is equipped to play the role he is being given at that level, I'd prefer Ralphsmith to get a run on the wing based on today's form.

A few people concerned about the minute mix and the way we backed off, but don't forget a huge part of today is also having a dress rehearsal on rotations, which are incredibly complicated and need practice, especially with a limited runner now.

something happened with the rotations today - as the game wore on, plenty of tiger players came to the bench stuffed and were told to run back to their posies - they were clearly getting frustrated and the subbing wasn’t smooth - needs plenty of work still.

I said to my son that for sure someone on PRE would state Ross was a disappointment today. Besides being played out of position for large chunks he was very solid and happily put his head over the ball all day.
Should def play rd1

The last preseason game players always go into self preservation mode knowing Round 1 is just around the corner. Especially for our blokes who most have been to the top of the mountain and have nothing to prove in these type of games. I expect us to step it up 10 fold in two weeks time.

As for Castsgna I think he gets a rough ride. Not the easiest position to play especially if what the coaches expect from him. Yes he is not perfect but he does a lot of things that don’t get registered on the stats sheet.
We might even see us pacing ourselves a bit this year. It's a long season and our older players have nothing to prove so why put the pressure on for four quarters when you can win many games with bursts of top class play? Yes it can be a dangerous tactic but we must not forget 2018 where we limped into the finals.

The rules make the game hard to watch plain and simple.
I switched off after half time.
I lost count how many times the hawthorn ruckman went straight at Soldo and forgot to go for the ball. No free kicks.
The players were moving when they were on the mark.
The holding of lynch and Jack was 'broken TV' quality.
Our kicking inside 50 is and will be our biggest Achilles heal this year.

Could be for mins in the legs given once season starts rotations are capped.

Agreed, the last 1/4 in particular we didn't want to go near a contest which is self explanatory at this time of year, with 5ish mins to go they showed the bench & Cotch, Soldo Jack & a few others were all sitting there, done for the day. As for George, ppl need to read Konrad Marshalls books, his role is clearly defined in them & he performs it very well. IMO we got out of today what we wanted to & so long as there's no injuries come from it (which seems to be the case) then it's a massive tick.

Couldn't stay awake long enough to watch the game at 2AM UK time so had to watch it properly on replay. Saw enough to be reasonably satisfied where we are . We are missing the cool head of Astbury in defence but hopefully Tarrant will grow into the team. Gibcus looks the future but for me not quite ready for a round 1 berth. Baker and Balta look impressive as was Bolton in the first half but seemed to slow down especially in the third quarter. Our seniors are all looking in good shape but someone needs to tell Jack to button his lip as it will cost us dearly in a close match

Just watching the replay. What was that 50 against Aarts for, late in the 4th quarter?

The turkeys at AFL House have looked at our Frees For (last) and our Frees Against (first) over the past 5 years and thought, the standing the mark rule aint enough. we can really screw them for disputing and back chat.

I musrt seriously need glasses

Cannot believe the rubbish being posted about Balta & Ross
Both players played very well and had great games

Balta was just amazing and so dominant , Rucking , Foward and ran his guts out
Baker , Gibcus , Biggy all showed great signs

Coychin was also extremely good first half
