Richmond vs Hawks in Tassie

The midfield balance still intrigues me. The lack of Graham and Lambert means there's a couple of spots to rotate through. Baker looks to have taken one, and the other still looks open. Our top 5 inside mids should be Martin, Cotchin and Prestia, with then Bolton and Baker rotating through. Ross gets the first crack at the last spot?
I think Ross has cemented the other wing. I would have liked Dow to play today.

Sonsie the dark horse.

Disposal still very iffy. Wont bode well against the premier teams. Also teams still transitioning way too easily. Hawks bottom 4 this year. They are terrible.

Yeh but that first 3 Qtrs we would've whipped most teams. Slick passing, excellent run and carry, hitting up short passes etc
Last quarter you could see they didn't want too much body contact, top players rested and basically, the hawks had to salvage something from the scoreboard and kicked a few late to make it look respectable.

Please tell me Aarts isnt in our best 22. Absolute battler. Need to purge these types. Add Castagna to that list. Balta fwd is an absolute waste. Needs to be led to the contest. Scrap it immediately and make him a utility around the ground

You seriously need to watch that game again in regards to Balta.

He was terrific, 19 disposals, 3 goals and took some very strong marks.
He was without a doubt our best forward.

Imagine when we can slot Lambert into that transition too. Bakes was close to an AA half back IMO, but looks like he'll step up to that next level playing half forward.
Bake's is on the way to being our Robbie Gray. Maybe slightly less class but tougher and looks like he can play anywhere.

Very little to take out of that game you’d think. Hawthorn is rubbish. Bottom 4 at least and the spoon is not beyond them. Also had their 2 best mids out.

Our first quarter was good but after that it was meh. For me our foot skills are our biggest concern. The way the game is played now I’m not sure we have enough players with elite foot skills.

Not sure what Castagna brings now. The stand rule has made his pressure almost obsolete and don’t think he brings enough with the rest of his game. He had a couple of shots at goal today that went nowhere near it. Wouldn’t have him in the side in round 1. But no doubt he will be there though.

Sorry Ridley but that assessment is far from the mark. Yes Hawks are rubbish but we moved the footy the best we have since winning the premiership back in 2020. We have tweaked the game plan to short kick from the back half and once we get to the middle our forward play gets into overdrive.

As for Castsgna he is not solely that forward pressure player. He pushes much up the ground. Almost playing like a winger. But most importantly he is still getting on the scoreboard. I could be wrong but he has kicked a couple of goals each game so far. Not sure what more you want from the bloke.

A win is a win but this was against a team who is in the middle of a major rebuild. We should have won by more than that
