This was one discussion but I don't think this was the only reason given for the dominance. Brisbane had a lot of financial and player recruiting incentives that maybe gave them an unfair advantage. Similar with Sydney and the enhanced salary cap. West Coast, there were arguments that they were hiding players in their competition and realistically Victorian clubs didn't put the effort those days in uncovering players from the West that they do now. I believe that interstate clubs do have home ground advantages. When you're the only club or one of two playing at that ground, then opposition teams get less experience on playing those grounds and of course a parochial crowd will always give you that extra percent or two. However there are many aspects that make a successful club. It's the combination of all these factors that make you a successful club. To be successful you have to be able to win anywhere and if you can't, to me there's no excuses, you're simply not good enough if that's the case.
