Richmond 2017 AFL Premiers

I have never heard a premier treated with such disrespect as Richmond has been. *smile* them all.

I don't agree with this but I can see where you are coming from.

However, Richmond got more airtime and column inches than any other previous premier in the off-season. Some of it might have been disrespectful but better to be spoken about than not spoken about at all.

If you look for positive stuff you’ll find plenty too. Phrases like ‘premiers had a little too much class against hawthorn’ are around. We are #1 rated team by this pundit https://apple.news/AFdl9r_BjToKaeK19Q1z6YQ without having set the world on fire. Etc etc.

I can’t remember us ever having being talked about so positively.

Mark Maclure has been a huge Richmond hater for over 50 years.
At least Mar Nocluer has a valid reason to hate the Tiges. He's probably still pissed over the smacks in the ear he copped off a few of our defenders. He simply played in an era when the Tiges n Bloosers hated one another, players as well as fans.

Nocluer also openly admits his hatred and bias against Richmond. I don't mind that at all. Better than the flogs who try to deny bias.

I tell my managers all the time that being liked is very overrated.
Being respected is a very different thing

The question now is, which commentator's/jurno's were happy we won??

Mick Warner
Richo
Dermie
Lynch
KB
King
Bartel
Geez - I’d never regard King as on our side
Just don’t trust the bloke - he’s mealy mouthed and two faced
Likes to pump us up when we’re winning just so he can go gangbusters against us if things go bad
And that was always his greatest pleasure - to dig the screws in when we underachieved.
Or especially if we imploded at times in a game or in a season
Sorry but I just don’t trust him on anything he says about us

We all know Dermie has a soft spot for us.
Got a feeling that might change a touch now that we've won a flag n look like being competent for a while.
I might be wrong but I think maybe Dermie was more fascinated by the theatre of Richmond. The board room brawls, the coach sackings, the almost nearly on field performance followed by the inevitable collapse. And of course the massive heaving Tiger Army, always hoping, believing, raging in frustration and constantly turning up to face it all over again every year.
Dermie's always struck me as having that slightly perverse, tweak out of left field sense of humour. He'd have loved everything about us over the last 35 years n enjoyed us finally getting it right last year as well. Reckon we've been massively entertaining for him as a tragic / comic bit of theatre.

"Richmond won a flag? But the dee's have had a better list since 87! Something's not right! We should change the rules! Play the GF Interstate, unless the Dees make it. Undo the history of football and make it a Grand final series."

"All the astute experts like me, mike n Dal are aware the crows where the better side. Maybe the premiers each year could be awarded by a three way vote!"

"Anyone wanna bring their wife and daughter and come out to dinner?"*

*Yeah, harsh! But the guy has done nothin but cry n moan that the crows should have been premier's in 2017 since 1/2 time on grand final day! I'm pretty dam sick of his rambling salt spewing!

I'd say what a *smile*, but, to be honest, I have no idea who that ugly slob in the pic is.

Interesting thoughts TM. I must admit, that I used to never give any creedence to his comments, but since I have matured somewhat, I like and respect what he has to say.

My jaw dropped when watching footy classified when Crutchy asked the panel if Port were the best side. Hymie said No, Tiges better

Juddy of course said the two Sydney clubs are the benchmark and BTW Kruezer is No 3 ruck in the league. Our premiership really hurts ;D

Watching Flea on Open Mike talk about Balmey, made me really think if we would have won the flag without NB , I know it’s been mentioned before, but without legends like Neville Crowe keeping the club alive and Richo giving a glimmer of hope on field, 2017s drought breaking Premiership may well have never happened.

So many behind the scenes legends who made it all happen.

Was up in the middle of the night so flicked it on again, I don’t think there’s ever been a better team performance, everybody involved got it right on the day, even me only clapping goals with odd number claps

Has hutchy got false teeth??

It makes me laugh when they make interstate teams the so called benchmark, the only person who correctly judged the Swans V Giants game was Nick Reiwoldt. That game was a predictable game of keepings off and neither of those teams can win on the MCG playing that rubbish. Of the interstate teams which one could play the right way to win on the MCG? Maybe Port but certainly not any of the others, everyone is going down with injuries, I think we are in the box seat and just have to get ourselves to the back half with our guns in good shape. If we massage that correctly no one will beat us at the jungle.

Spoke with an ex-player who is still around the club a bit, and he reckons Balme changed everything from the moment he walked in. Basically said that it would not have happened without him.
