Rich V Carl - Match Day Thread

Can only get better.
I trust that we will pick ourselves up.

I don’t think we can blame anyone else but ourselves for this loss. The lack of discipline in giving away so many 50m penalties is really disappointing and telling. It needs to be addressed.

Clearances are manageable, but the bigger issue is we aren’t able to get pressure on opposition clearances. Which in turn puts the defence under pressure.

How quick we turn this around will come down to how stubborn Dimma wants to be. If he realises Ross and Aarts types are not the answer we may return in a hurry.
The end is nigh. In hindsight the club made a massive error in allowing Cotch and JR8 to continue.

Blues top 4 midfielders averaged 30 disposals each and kicked 6 goals between there. Our top 4 averaged 16 disposals and kicked 1 goal. That was the difference between the 2 teams.

We don't have a midfield. Young guys need to step up.
good post. same as many games last year. The mids are trying but its with tired legs and only a couple of class younger mids like Shai.
Not enough depth between the arcs.

You have been banging this drum for years. And I knew it wasn’t a strength, but seeing Aarts play as basically a full time midfielder was really sobering. In the words of Jim Morrison, “this is the end”.

Just draft them every year, pure mids. We got smashed by a midfield WITHOUT SAM WALSH.

We have to play RCD and Sonsie now. Prestia & Graham out.

No more half mids like Dow. Take Deven Robertsons.

All chaos does is prematurely age and injure our already injury prone stars.

I am Dusty's biggest fan but at times he is a liability in the centre. He isn't quick enough to chase and never seems to get anywhere near a tap.

But this is his reward for all his service.... A midfield that still relies on him.

I said it at the end of last year and have no reason to change that opinion now ........ needs to retire, done, far to slow of foot now. I rank the bloke in the TOP 5 to have ever worn this Jumper, but times up and there's no shame in it, walk away Champ, you have accomplished as much as you possibly could have, please dont go out tarnishing that reputation.
No value in him retirement now, see the season out and put everything into developing Sonsie and RCD

At what stage do we ever go down the guts for the win. The chip kick to the pocket and the rebound back into the 50 is so passé.

That was an abysmal performance.

So many seasoned players off tonight.

The selection of Gibcus shows we are still arrogant when we no longer have a right to be. Not his fault we lost but i just didnt see the reason to rush him straight into the team especially when someone like Miller has done the hard yards.

Ralphsmith not good enough for mine. Nowhere near ready and im afraid will be part of that draft that will cost us for years to come.

Parker is another one. Why was there a need to re-sign him. Seen better midfielders in our VFL team that should have been given a go. Team is screaming for midfielders and we do that. Unwarranted arrogance

The midfield is completely shot. It was a slow top heavy side tonight. Our great midfield warriors are slowing down and Meatball is made out of paper.

This is exactly what we need to do - I thought he did OK for first gamer 18 year old. I saw enough to know he will be a player and we should keep playing him imo.
