Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Thought he was quite good Conca last night. Showed good composure and slick sure hands.

On Ellis, I don't care what time he can run 100m in, he just needs to run hard when he has the ball. It has been a tough but good baptism for Brandon. he would have learnt a lot in the past 2 weeks.

If I had one knock on him it would maybe be a lack of penetration in his kicking....very well rounded footballer IMHO ...I won't be putting a ceiling on his limitation

Many players of his ilk don't have much penetration - Selwood, Mitchell, Swan, Kerr, Priddis

For an inside mid, I think Conca is tracking beautifully, I was really impressed with his game last night, I think he'll be an integral part of the midfield in the not too distant future.

Also very relieved he snagged a goal, hopefully that opens the floodgates.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Conca is a lot quicker that I realised, smooth mover and can play inside or out IMO

A great get by FJ and co

If Ellis is a step above Conca we'll be very happy. Conca is a point guard, in the Matty Knights mould. Get the ball through his hands as much as possible and the side will benefit.

Yep his decision making and disposal is top shelf. Agree with daisy on the frontliner calls. Need to get Reece into the middle as much as possible. Playmaker.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Thats why there is so much more upside to the Tiges and we will make it as a team. When Conca and Ellis get a few more years in them we are going to see real improvement in the Tiges. Just got to be patient (I know its hard)

Oh yes.

We really need speedsters like Mitchell, Swallow, Boyd, Watson, Hodge and Rockliff - all club champions.

The power Leysey exerts is astounding. One comment and the lemmings line up to follow him off the cliff.

Did leysy even comment? If he did I'm sure it would only have been something to do with a player slimming down.

Geez! Lot of people giving young Ellis a slap in just his second game.
Doesn't need to be lightning fast with some decent runners like Newy, Houli and Tross coming out of the backline. What he needs most is the ability to read the play, get into the right places to compete and to use the ball with composure.
Haven't seen him do anything wrong to show he won't be a good player for us. Kids done well to get straight into the seniors and survive a baptism of fire against two of the better sides in the comp.

Well said TM :thumbsup

Don’t worry about Ellis pace. He still looks like he is carrying some puppy fat so as he slims off he will get quicker. Judge him by what he does in tight and what he does with the ball in his hands.

I agree. Anyway, mind and hand speed are what matters more than actual leg speed. He'll be right.

Sam Mitchell and Lenny Hayes aren't fast but you'd love em in your side.

also remember Conca missed 4 games early due to suspension, so he's probable a little behind most other guys.
Give him another 2 -3 games and i think he'll step up a little more.
Very promising player.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Best game for the club thus far, looked composed, kicked some important goals, was creative, kept his feet despite fierce pressure. I'll go so far as to say he has the potential to be a true A grader, a real coming of age game from Squirrel.

Dyson who? ;D

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Yep smashed it today. Not a lot of recognition from the commentators for a kid in his second year.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Conca is more unobtrusive then others he has class is very clever in close and wins contested footy, he doesnt do a huge amount of flashy highlight reel stuff.

He goes unnoticed a bit but will become a very important if he keeps improving.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

dont care if the idots on the box dont sing his praises.... we know we have a possible beauty in this bloke and the longer he can slip under the radar the better - got around 30 possis today and made use of most of em i reckon so great game and hope he keeps it up next week

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Cotchin to Conca will be something the commentators will be saying for years to come.

Have a look at a couple of the comments at half time in our game thread, they are right into him as well.

Great game Conca - well done :clap
