Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

The thing to remember about Reece is that this has been floated before.

Over the past few years, due to his injury record, we have only offered him fairly low contract terms.
It's been floated, probably by his manager, that the WA clubs were interested in him.
The club has generally said "Well, if you get an offer, we'll consider it". No serious offer has been forthcoming and so he has stayed on a low pay rate.

This year he has fought his way into being in our best 22 and the offers may have become more serious.
That's understandable but I don't think our attitude will change much. Maybe a little bit more money is being offered by us.

If he gets a much better, serious offer then I think both he and we will accept it.
That's really fine and fair to both parties.

He gets a much better deal and we can get a much better trade deal.

No trade required if he wants to leave. He's an UFA. No compo either due to Lynch coming. The afl work it as net gain vs net loss.
So we wouldn't get anything for him unless Freo have a FA leaving and they do a miniscule trade so it doesn't affect their compo. I don't know if they have or not though

Re: Reece Conca

I am actually hoping he goes now to be honest we do need to make some changes to our list and free up $$.

If fit he will likely play more footy at Freo than he will going forward at the RFC especially if B Crouch makes his way to Tigerland.

Probably in his own best interest to head home, reckon he might already know that.

Good luck to him if he goes, great bloke always up for a chat.

Re: Reece Conca

Greece can go as when the chips were down he was down. Dunno why he got the nod before Bellis.

Re: Reece Conca

Sliding Doors

1 in 2 Experts had us taking Lynch in the draft. We took Conca
Today we got lynch while we farewell Conca

Has Concs made an announcement?

Do not think Greece is in a position to make an announcement unless he has a concrete contract from some other club & that might not be forthcoming in the early days of the Trade.

NAB AFL Trade Radio
.@Adelaide_FC List Manager Justin Reid: Tyson Stengle has lacked opportunity at Richmond. We will work through that in trade period, but he will add speed and goal sense to us, especially with Eddie Betts getting older. He has chosen Adelaide as his club of choice

Sen 4 year deal to Freo... gone

We offered him 2 years

Pretty good deal for Conca, contract takes him to 30 years old. Depth player, it gives opportunities to our younger group.

Do we get anything if Stengle goes? Surely he would have been given opportunities in the seniors next year. We can’t give all our reserve players away for nothing!

Adelaide have to trade otherwise he goes 8nto the draft.

Re: Reece Conca

5 years ago King was a revelation as a forward. we had ZIP smalls at Richmond. We now have Rioli, Castagna, Butler, Bolton, Higgins ( mid / fwd ) Baker (mid / fwd ) then Stengle. Would need many injuires at gort a game unfortunately.

Stengle was promising early in the VFL season but really tapered off I thought so now is well down the pecking order. Both Baker and Bolton seem to be ahead of him. Of course he is only 20yo and 3rd season coming up but he was also a rookie pick so wasn't looked at over enthusiastically at draft time. SOmetimes you just have to open up spots to make way for needs in other positions. It is ironic, a few years ago, I was always lamenting how the opposition seemed to have small forward who would destroy us and we had none. Now we have so many potentials we have to move them on.
