Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

I reckon so, a future 3rd would be nice. Dependent on what type of FA he is. I thought he was unrestricted, but footywire says he's restricted.

The below would suggest he is unrestricted and if he leaves we therefore get nothing.

"Players who are in the top 25 per cent of salaries at their club (that is, in the club’s top nine-10 paid players) are eligible for restricted free agency the first time they are out of contract, if they have served at least eight years with the club."

Surely he is not in the top 25% of salaries at the club. If he is not, does that mean Freo will, have to trade for him?

The reverse. He is unrestricted.

Re: Reece Conca

Would Conca ask Freo to do a trade? Given we have paid him and looked after him all these years?

It would be the nice thing to do - but Freo would possibly tell us to GAGF I suppose!

Nope they get him for free, we cannot match as I agree theres zero chance he is in the top 25%.

And my guess would be he is now trying to top up as he cant rebuild a side

Freo linked to Reece(RFC) & Hogan(MFC). Working on the spine

Can you think of a time this has ever happened, with any player or club??

Re: Reece Conca

So I’m hearing that it’s pretty much a given that Concs has decided to leave. Has anyone heard the same recently?

Re: Reece Conca

thanks reece, what time would u like me to pick you up for the airport.

Re: Reece Conca

The thing to remember about Reece is that this has been floated before.

Over the past few years, due to his injury record, we have only offered him fairly low contract terms.
It's been floated, probably by his manager, that the WA clubs were interested in him.
The club has generally said "Well, if you get an offer, we'll consider it". No serious offer has been forthcoming and so he has stayed on a low pay rate.

This year he has fought his way into being in our best 22 and the offers may have become more serious.
That's understandable but I don't think our attitude will change much. Maybe a little bit more money is being offered by us.

If he gets a much better, serious offer then I think both he and we will accept it.
That's really fine and fair to both parties.

He gets a much better deal and we can get a much better trade deal.

Wouldn't our compo pick be cancelled out by the Lynch signing?

Yes. Forgot he's a free agent.

We may need to match to get a trade done.
Would we?

We're probably in that squeeze for cap space.
If we match and keep him then players like Townsend are in strife.
May be what Towner's talking about when he's says he's expecting to wait.
If we match and trade then Towner stays.
