Reece Conca - so long and thanks for all the fish

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

We picked a guy with good disposal and of good character. I couldn't be happier with this selection so far.

BTW unlike Selwood he's earning his head high free kicks with honest efforts. ;)

Underrated aspect of his game I reckon. Goes-in for it pretty hard with great timing. Certainly no shirker.

Agree. I have been very impressed with Reece's attack on the footy for a light weight first year recruit.
Likes to get to that ball first no matter who's in front of him.

If you download the radio show from yesterday the 24th on here: http://www.3aw.f2.com.au/Podcast/Feeds/01.xml

There is a 8 minute interview with Conca at about the 1 hour 6 minute mark. You will need internet explorer to listen/ download it though.

Pretty ordinary interview.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Had a pretty dark day.

Got caught out running in front of the ball a few times. Got shuffled from half back to half forward but just couldn't get into the game. Wouldn't be shocked to see him get a week off soon.

Looked tired and sluggish in the legs.

Still having a super year.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

There is no shame in saying he needs a rest - hes a first year player, but geez he needs a rest now.

Yeah, doesn't have that zip in his movement he had early. The last two weeks I have seen him trail his man into crumbing contests by 3-5 metres and just get blown away.

I think someone else raised it on here but he does get done for holding the ball a lot when he is on the bottom of the pack.

Still going to be a very, very good footballer.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

Has definetely slowed down a little as expected with such a limited pre-season. Still doing some nice things and finished with 18 touches and over 90% efficiency last night. The club should know when the right time for a rest will be

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

I would rest him this week, without a worry. Would probably even give him the weekend off footy so his body has a chance to recover and re-energize.

Re: Reece "Squirrel" Conca

He's starting to show the signs of wear and tear. It's not like the team can't afford to give him a break and play one of the hopefuls at Coburg in his place.
